  1. In the Championship we often played a team promoted from League 1 at home, so I'm going for Portsmouth at home probably on Sunday at 12.30
  2. It was rammed on the terrace. Does anyone remember the 4.1 defeat at Old Trafford the previous season. Steve Cross celebrated his consolation goal like it was the winner! Seem to remember there being a massive killer whale inflatable in the away end or maybe I dreamt that!
  3. Last time we won at Villa. We made a lot of noise that day. There is a much longer highlights version of this game on the internet somewhere.
  4. I was in the Brian Clough stand and thought I was going to get lynched when I jumped up to celebrate the equaliser, fortunately there were loads of other Derby fans doing the same!
  5. How about something exotic for the SW corner 'Curva del Eranio' (apologies to Gordon Guthrie!)
  6. Winning 3.1 at Spurs (Ted McMinn double), 2.1 at Villa (Goddard & Saunders) and 2.1 at Man Utd (Goddard & Saunders) all in the late 80s. Also fond memories of beating Newcastle 3.2 at home when we were 2.0 down at HT against Keegan et al.
  7. The thing I won't miss are the endless series of throw ins, it felt like we only got about 50 mins of play in some games. Also hated the 'breaking up play' tactics with a couple of players going down suddenly when the opposition were under pressure. The last four home games were a joy though, as Bolton, Blackpool, Orient and Carlisle at least tried to play football. On the positive side, I enjoyed going to new grounds, speaking to opposition fans both on the train to away and home games. There are no teams I really disliked apart from Wycombe maybe. Favourite moments apart from yesterday of course was winning at PV twice (the nearest club to me) Being in the home end at Cheltenham when Birdy scored from 30 yards out and not entirely controlling my emotions, and many friendly welcomes at away games especially Accrington. Let's not do this again for a while.
  8. Still trying to process it all, just feel so drained, relieved and happy. Struggling to put in to words what this all means to me and it's not just the alcohol - what an emotional day! Most of all, I'm pleased for David Clowes who saved this great club. See you next season in the Championship!
  9. Up early, animals fed, just the 30 mins walk to the station to catch an early train to Derby so I can savour the build up. Quietly confident at the moment....
  10. Glad I renewed yesterday as due to a busy day at work, I would have missed doing it today.
  11. I have mine too and could never bring myself to get rid of it. It's not a bad looking scarf but the association with Mel means I don't wear it to games anymore. I did get rid of the free cup of tea he gave us.
  12. All of them except maybe the 'Mel' one if it stays this cold!
  13. Me too, just checking out the time of the last train back to Crewe on Saturday.
  14. Me too, had a great day working in the spring sunshine just catching the HT and full time score on Five Live. Hope everyone can savour the week ahead in anticipation of a great occasion next Saturday. It's going to be a long old week!
  15. I loved the parade laps during our two promotions in the mid 80s as we climbed from Div 3 to Div 1. I guess that was one of the few advantages of the perimeter fencing at that time, as I'm sure there would have been pitch invasions. It was my first taste of success as a Derby fan and I'm sure I would have sprinted onto the pitch from the Normanton End on the famous Friday night in May 1986. It would have been quite a mud bath in the pouring rain. So I will remain in the SW Upper and hopefully rekindle the joy I felt nearly 40 years ago - anyway there are two many stairs to run down, however much I'm tempted.
  16. Passed the Shrewsbury team coach while driving back home up the M6. Tried to transmit loads of positive vibes, but I fear defeat is inevitable.
  17. Didn't we play Villa in the Premier league with a chance of going top many years ago?
  18. Looks like two sections of the East Stand next to the away fans have opened up (approx. 220 seats), so in total 750 seats available with a couple of East Stand blocks to open up.
