  1. I’d go with this but I’d put Thompson ahead of Bird so he can utilise his best attribute - his pressing. I’d also drop Hourihane off the bench for Fornah just to stop Warne putting him on. Has to be tempting to go back to 433 with Barkhuizen fit again and CBT there. Wouldn’t be against that. Dropping Bradley, of course.
  2. Not quite, but I have this nagging reoccurring day dream about Junior and Mat Svensson being the world’s greatest strike force for 3 games and it being cut short before the world knew it.
  3. I was a kid as well, it’s their fault I’ve had this life of torment.
  4. yeah, they're ugly. weren't great at the time, and without the Errea badge they're even worse - and all I can picture is Ravanelli in them which makes it even worse.

    Ebou Adams.

Don't necessarily need it in the right balance of a midfield. Currently, he would be the only one I'd consider playing and every one else would be new. Need a player who can cover ground and be as aggressive as he is whether it's him or not. Win it, cover spaces, give it simple. Warne ain't as daft as he sounds though, if we can't keep Adams, he will have ideas of alternatives. and you can guarantee they would be a similar athlete.

    Paul Warne

Hard to say with him bursting on the scene with Cocu, but think he's right up there, for sure.
  7. Dont confuse the ability to drop a shoulder and beat a man with the ability to sprint. He’s too slow to be a winger, and that’s fine because he isn’t one (the original point was he couldn’t do what CBT can do). He suits Wing Back well.
  8. I love Sibley as much as anyone, but he couldn’t do CBT’s role. Sibley runs in treacle, which is frankly why he hasn’t hit the heights we thought he might when he broke through.
  9. It did look a bit like that, but after he got mobbed, he then did clap the fans.
  10. Won’t make any bones about not being his biggest fan. I think even at his best this season he’s merely been “fine”, which for what we are presumably paying him and the fanfare that surrounded his arrival, has been a disappointment to say the least. He’s made several errors and for a 6ft5 monster I don’t think I can remember a centre back so tentative. Would do himself some favours by attacking the ball and leaving the wrestling out of it. I questioned the reasoning for his inclusion yesterday given his recent performances and what he did at Northampton, but it seems Warne may have known about Orient’s inability to defend crosses and it really worked. Hats off on that. He was untested defensively, although did give away a couple of poor free kicks first half. The announced man of the match seemed a bit of a stretch, there were 3 or 4 players more deserving.
  11. Three goals from corners was misleading somewhat, just in the second half alone Sibley and NML missed 1 on 1s and Washington somehow managed to miss two good chances in injury time. Good performance overall. I rolled my eyes at Bradley regaining his place after his outing at Northampton and whilst I still loathe his inability to defend without wrestling, he clearly did the business in the opposition box. Luckily we were barely tested at the back. Maybe Warne had done his homework on their crossing fragility? Felt like there was more urgency and intensity from early in the game. We were even taking throw ins quite quickly..! Novel idea given our usual penchant for taking ages and throwing it to the opposition. Wilson lively early, Adams everywhere, Thompson pressed well. One of Collins best games for me even without scoring. Came short and held the ball up properly.
  12. Arsenal have scored the most in the premier league this season. Big, physical Arsenal.

  14. Don’t know who the trialist is but he scored. And McAndrew scored 2 minutes later. 2-0 currently.
  15. Have you seen some of the striking options we've trotted out?
  16. Certainly could do with more creativity, but a lot of it is more indecision and overthinking it. League One players, I'm afraid.
  17. Inverted wingers are just modern football. So few teams play with left footed on the left, right footed on the right like 15 years ago. Coincided with the shift towards goals coming from those players, rather than strikers in a lot of top teams. Think we can analyse that miss until the cows come home but it doesn't really matter. It was a crap miss, one he wouldn't miss if you gave him another 10 goes at it. It's football, it happens. He won't need telling. It's Warne and the team's job to ensure his head doesn't drop over it because we will need him if we're to do this. Whilst I agree, I think Warne would have left him there if he could. We had an injury crisis, he was trying to polish a turd of an attacking force.
  18. Grim strikeforce that. Waghorn is redundant, may as well play someone like Thompson just for his pressing over Waghorn.
  19. I'll say it quietly, but i'd take Ben Osborn as well.
  20. I will finally believe if we can beat Wycombe. We seriously need to, we need to get out this league so I can forget about Wycombe ever existing.
  21. Ipswich spent big for League One and have signed double figures players since being promoted.
  22. One day, maybe not in my life time, people may realise that wingers, and creative players in general, outside the premier league are wildly inconsistent. They’re asked to try things, scoring and assisting is difficult. They’ll mess up a lot, they’ll give it away a lot. It’s even more difficult when you’re often the only creative outlet in the entire team as NML has been.
