  1. ATG 1Wildsmith. 5.5. Distribution poor - haven't watched the highlights so giving him the benefit that he wasn't at fault for their second 35Nelson. 6.5 5Bradley. 7 defended well and looked a threat at set pieces 6Cashin 5.5. As he himself said could maybe have done better for their second 2Wilson 6.5 For me he's not a wing back but when he gets to attack he looks threatening 4Hourihane. 5. There were several times he could have turned on the ball and played too safe. 7Barkhuizen. 5. Might be being harsh just didn't notice him doing anything. 32Adams. 6. Solid 12Smith. 6. 20Elder. 5.5. Did ok but if he's a wing back need more threat 24Nyambe. 6 8Bird 🐦 5. Didn't offer much 17Sibley. 5.5. Showed willing. Put in a few tackles. No real threat. 25Gayle. 6 11Méndez-Laing. 5.5. Played out of position again Coaching staff 3 A real mess of a formation and changes were reactive and poor. Was crying out to go to a back 4
  2. They took a hit at the end of the Mel Morris era with administration and all that - maybe what the guy was referring to. Derby were actually one of the top funded clubs in that division a few years ago along with Forest but only for 1 maybe 2 seasons.
  3. Why was he dropped for Elder? Sibley had played fine - not always great but then Bird, Collins, Hourihane etc all have quiet games and keep their shirt. Bradley is now hailed as the next Igor because he hasn't f'ed up for a couple of games by the same people saying Sibley hasn't done enough.
  4. It may or may not be Warne's fault but that doesn't mean it's nobody's fault. We needed a striker and we didn't get one. If we'd put the CBT money towards, for example, Chris Martin that to me would have made more sense. I don't want to go on about it because it's done now but it's not as if the need for a striker is only being seen now we went into the window with most saying that's the priority.
  5. ATG not watched the highlights 1Wildsmith. 6.5 Did fine just didn't have a lot to do 35Nelson 7 5Bradley 7 6Cashin 7 thought back 3 looked pretty solid so 7 each 24Nyambe 6 not really a wing back 11Smith 6 8Bird 6 32Adams 7 20Elder 6 2Wilson 6 anonymous for first hour, good for 30 minutes. I rate him highly but we need to ay to his strengths 11Méndez-Laing 6.5. Didn't set up to his strengths but came up with the moment of magic again. 7Barkhuizen 6. 17Sibley 7 Did ok, worked hard and scored
  6. ATG 1Wildsmith. 6.5 24Nyambe. 7 2Wilson 6 5Bradley 5.5 35Nelson. 7 23Ward 5 7Barkhuizen 5 32Adams 7 16Thompson 6 4Hourihane 4.5 8Bird 6 17Sibley 6 20Elder 6 11Méndez-Laing 6.5 9Collins. 5.5
  7. It's crying out for 433 with Collins flanked by NML and Wilson. Why Warne p*sses about with formations so much God knows no wonder there are no recognisable patterns of play.
  8. Re. booing I didn't hear any, well only the Adams "booing" and a bit aimed at the ref. Nobody booed the team. Thought the fans were good today given the football in the first half was so poor
  9. You say that but Adam Bolder seemed to think that would be a factor for some players. It's part of the package - some players will care about the size of the club, some the style of play, how far away it is and of course money. Young loanees might even look at how much game time Osula et al got.
  10. Neither do I hear many managers say they were carrying too many players, too many were losing individual battles, too many weren't doing the basics as often as Warne says these things. It's the same with his repeated mantra that players pick the side with their performances - to an extent of course that is true but also good managers get the best out of players. Cashin was an example early season - played a formation where he was getting isolated out wide - since we've returned to a 4 he's been great.
  11. People need to stop blaming finances. However much money we have we have chosen to spend it one way rather than another. The wages spent on some of our ageing signings who have barely contributed could have gone on loans. We are the outlier in not doing that.
  12. Haven't read the whole thread - seems to have got somewhat heated - but aren't we ok for holding midfielders? Bird has been a 6 most of his career. Smith is nearly fit and Hourihane and Fornah have bern played there at times this season. If budget is limited then save it for a striker. If we could get anyone else in for me it'd be an attacking midfielder that poses a goal threat - we'd still need a 9 though even if just for cover.
  13. I think it's all up for grabs - performances have dropped off of late though so maybe 4th or 5th. If we don't go up we are pretty much starting again.
  14. When has he said tactically he got it wrong? When ? What faults has he admitted to ? Im not talking about some vague collective responsibility line - I'm talking about analysing a poor performance in terms other than blaming the players for being below par.
  15. I think it's more A and B - if Burton Albion can afford the loan fee for a Prem academy striker then we can. Look at transfermarkt and the loans other league 1 sides have - we've really failed to use the loan market in tne way other teams have.
  16. He never takes responsibility. If we perform poorly it's players below par, losing their battles, not doing the basics. I don't buy it - one week Bird can pass a ball and the next week he can't? Yes players will make mistakes within a game, misplace a pass, let their man go, lose a tackle - but if it isn't working for them consistently within a game it's probably not them but something within the game that the manager could change.
  17. Why would that matter though (not suggesting you are saying it should) - if anything if you were out of contract and presumably looking for a move or a pay rise you'd be more motivated. In fact if we've dropped a player for not signing a contract that comes across like a punishment and can't be good for morale.
  18. Wildsmith Nyambe Nelson Cash Sibley Bird. Hourihane Fornah Wilson. Collins. NML
  19. ATG 31Vickers 6 2Wilson 6 35Nelson 6.5 6Cashin 6.5 17Sibley 7 7Barkhuizen 4 4Hourihane 4.5 22Fornah 6 8Bird 6 5Bradley 6 27Blackett-Taylor 3 16Thompson 6 11Méndez-Laing 6 9Collins 6.5 Haven't watched any highlights back so don't know if there was fault for their goal- have given our goalscorers a bonus point each in that.
  20. Enough booed that if they stayed away you'd be supporting a team with similar size support to Cheltenham.
  21. Thought the half time boos were justified for once. Absolute shocker of a performance - even after tne changes we looked no better than their equals - and they were as poor as their league position suggests. Thought going on about Sibley getting lucky with not giving a penalty away after was so poor after Sibley had a good game. Maybe offer a better post match analysis for once instead of seeing everything in terms of individual battles, doing the basics right and being brave on the ball - though how you can be brave on the ball when you are told not to take more than two touches who knows. Bird and Collins with two goals that were out of place with the performance have saved Warne there because I haven't heard the atmosphere in tne crowd that toxic for a long long time.
  22. Last I heard Thomas was concentrating on restocking the academy. Maybe ask if that is still the case. It does seem a disproportionate number of targets come from players Warne has had previously or else been established league 1 players that Warne would know. One way to describe our recruitment would be unimaginative. Under Rooney we got Plange and Ebiowei - those kind of signings don't seem to be happening. The philosophy seems to be they've done it in league 1 for them so they'll do it for us. There's not enough go out and find a player who has done it at a lower level or another league who has the potential to step up
