  1. Pretty shocked with tonight
  2. I do read, hear about Russia/Ukraine most days. I may be wrong, but I think generally most people are pretty clear about their position on the war. You've got the loons but nobody is giving them the time of day. You have those who think the Putin has a lot of valid points. But even those are mostly against his action in Ukraine. So it's not really controversial. Ukraine good - Russia bad. There's no outrage, no hysteria. In Gaza/West Bank you have a lot of different positions. You have the position of large amounts of populations being opposed to the position of their governments. When Putin was labeled a war criminal and arrest warrants were issued there were no complaints (loons not included). Now that's different to the reaction we've seen from the Gaza/West Bank/Israel war. Controversy sells. You can run with the stories all day long and clickbait with the war in the Middle East. I wonder if that's the main reason Ukraine seems to be less front and center
  3. It's 5v5 this weekend Where promoters get all the hype and money without actually doing the fighting? Wilder v Zhang is the main event. On paper it's an interesting fight. I expect it won't be that memorable. The first decent connection will probably end it. And it won't be two fierce lions waiting to pounce. It's a fight between a giraffe and an elephant There's a few offensive jokes about their footwork and Paralympics that I won't repeat here but you get the idea. It won't be which big banger finds a way in first. It will be which of them try to move but forget their feet. I think Wilder, especially if he's not such a nervous Bambi as the Parker fight. Undercard is solid again thanks to His Excellency, supreme leader, Lord Of Light, Holy Master of Devine Ceremony etc etc
  4. Will you offer £30k under the asking price and give the owner the time it takes for Jasmine to have a sip of wine to respond.
  5. Verstappen stuck in 6th made it easier to take. Sky/Channel 4 do seem to actually think fans of the sport can be seduced by images of celebs and yachts. You're about to sell us 78 laps of fast (but as slow as they can go) traffic. And you're telling me it's exciting because you're having fun looking at a rich person's boat. Get rid of Spa. What we need is a tight 1 car width New York street circuit. We don't care about racing. We want scenery. Celebrity endorsement. The thing I hate about Spa is that there's no rooftop infinity pools in view. Tsunoda fluked another win over Danny Ric. Another lol @ Stroll
  6. Team Red Bull under pressure? Oh no.
  7. It's harmful for him in close rounds with that style. He just doesn't catch the eye until he springs out of his defence. I wondered if that's why he lost the first or maybe just plain old corruption in trying to keep the big draw fighters winning?
  8. Catterall's style is ugly. I can see judges not scoring him in close fights because it's that jack in the box style. He leads with his head a lot, he always looks vulnerable (but isn't particularly). It's just not flattering him and I think he was perhaps scored more generously this time because of the last fight. Although I had him winning both. It's just not a style many people can enjoy. At least Taylor is an upright fighter who doesn't smother his work. Catterall just sets traps and it looks like we could do this fight another 10 times and Taylor wouldn't win. He just can't figure out how to consistently apply pressure. It's like watching sticking your nose in a snake pit. Not easy fights to score. I do hate it when people say fighters are finished after a defeat but Taylor looks like he's hit his peak?
  9. Imagine a conversation between Biden and Bob Arum. Well, it feels like Josh Taylor has wasted potential. I don't think there was any doubt he was going right to the top and he'd be in huge unified and undisputed fights. But it's all been a bit of brief flirt really. Catterall seemed relaxed and confident all week. I really thought Taylor would come in and be on another level from the first fight. It's a long way back for Taylor and Catterall can now put himself in the spot Taylor leaves behind.
  10. Sunnyhill, of course. I should know I used to live 5 mins from Browning Circle. I'm guessing these gangs are gone?
  11. 🤣 Remember in Derby we had that gang in Allenton and Sinfin with their postcode wars? I'm adding gang warfare to something else Notts does better. More gangs, more weapons, more choice.
  12. I worked in St Anns for some property developers from Derby. They would often live in the places they'd be doing up. Remember we turned up and said to her "Why have you bought one here?! It's a bit of a change Borrowash, Draycott and Thulston" She said they've never had any trouble. Not seen anything. It's pretty quiet actually. They expected the worst but it's been pleasant so far. Well actually, she said, there was one thing on the first night. A man burst through the front door, ran through the living room, out the back door and over the fence at the back. Then seconds later some police officers did the same. All while they were sat eating on the deck chairs. But that was 12 months ago. Nothing since. See, even in the roughest parts there's a community spirit where nobody locks their doors
  13. Maybe as @Reggie Greenwoodkind of said, I guess young people are changing the way they socialise. A night out used to be too loud music, meeting people, trendy over priced bars and clubs that charge you entry fee after a 25 minute wait in the cold. Last time I went out in Derby, we were looking for something like a club and somehow ended up in Popworld.... You know when you do the trying not to look like you're a terrorist behaviour at airport security? I was very conscious of trying not to look like a predator hanging around a bunch on 18 year old girls. Oh God. I feel awkward just thinking about it
  14. Notts definitely has some horrible parts that make any part of Derby look like Kensington. I worked in Hyson Green for 2 weeks. On day 1 I saw a gun. On day 5 my vehicle was damaged. On day 10 I went to get tools and somebody did a magic spell on me. I think Notts nicer areas are better than Derby nice areas. I think Notts makes more effort to draw people in. It always seems to have something going on. There seems to always be choice in Notts. Derbyshire though is something else. It's ridiculous where you end up if you drive 10 minutes from Derby City. I love Derbyshire. My main issue with Derby isn't what it has/hasn't got. It's what the council do or don't do. The way they waste money and potential. They make zero effort to attract families and tourists. Maybe Notts benefits from having a huge central square. All I see Derby do is a few stalls and a Xmas tree near that awful waterfall and yet another abandoned wreck (Assembly Rooms). Yet Notts council are broke? Worse off? But still they find ways to bring people and events in.
