I'm from South Derbyshire, the only times I have been to Derby in the past 20 years is for the football!

I wasn't overly impressed with Gary Neville when he made his first steps into punditry but over the years he has grown on me, especially re. his opinions on the governance of football.
I may be slightly biased ? but I think this is one of his best rants yet.

Ah this thread never changes lol.  Comparing country A to country B is pointless.
I see the Netherlands has been mentioned a few times so I checked to see how many over 65s they have in their country.... 3.8m, compared to 12.5m in the UK.
As the average age of death with covid is 80+ guess which country had the higher number of covid related deaths?
Unless you are going to factor in everything, including politics, the media and the publics willingness to follow the rules, its all pointless.  I'm just happy its all over and we can start getting back to normal.  I pity those living in other more authoritarian countries.

    Agree.
I commented in an earlier post that we'll never have as much support as we'll generate in the next 2 weeks.  If we manage to raise the cash and limp on until the end of the season with nothing resolved we'll just run up even more debt and will still face the exact same situation - only next time some people it will be, 'oh its Derby again'.  Now is the best time to resolve this.
Take it to the deadline, generate and much noise as possible and put the EFL and Boro/Wycombe under enough pressure to cut us some slack, else be forever remembered as the ones that liquidated a founder member that had rescue bids waiting to go.
Its a mexican standoff that we can't afford to lose, but imo its coming sooner or later and we'll never have as much support and sympathy as we have now.

My conclusion for what its worth.
    Steve Gibson still hates MM.
Steve Gibson has been given so much perceived power by the EFL not telling him to pipe down through fear of being sued that he thinks he has the right to get answers to those questions.
The administrators have no choice but to be ballsy and take this down to the wire.
The statement form Middlesbrough is about as unprofessional as I've ever seen, especially since they have tried to write it professionally. It makes me despair we have to deal with someone who has the ego to put that out in the public and think it looks good.
Its been 3 days since MPs, media and all of our fans found out just how incompetent the EFL are, confirming many of our suspicions. We have 11 more days. That's plenty of time for many more twists and turns.
We just need to realise, that for us to come out of this, the administrators will take us all the way to the deadline.

And what does seeing out the season achieve if we're still stuck between the EFL and Boro/Wycombe claims?
We'll never have as much momentum as we'll achieve over the next 12 days or so.  We need to ramp up the fact we might not exist in a couple of weeks time to force a resolution, appoint a PB and move on.  Carrying on in limbo until the end of the season only delays the inevitable and racks up even more debt.

I think it's dangerous to concede anything to Boro & Wycombe - they have to be talked down by Government and the EFL. If we accept that their claims are in any way valid, that opens the door to other clubs who haven't contemplated making claims and expecting settlements, unless the EFL change the rules to outlaw clubs taking action against each other for such matters. The can of worms that would be opened for further action against other clubs could destroy the pyramid system.
All disciplinary matters should in future be the responsibility of a new regulator paid for by the EPL, since they're the ones with 90% of the TV money.

Yeah, this is kind of my point. I understand that the administrators want to kick the can down the road as long as possible but that could be risky for 2 reasons. First, is the debt that is being piled on top of the club. In addition to the administrator costs, the first loan and now the second loan is in the air, we're probably looking at a bill of 15 million all wrapped up. In the grand scheme of things maybe it's not much but if relegation was confirmed that's extra revenue we'd have to find in league 1 with a number of player contracts coming to an end.
Second is taking it through either a legal proceeding or arbitration. A legal proceeding is too long and too expensive for us I would imagine, so it's the second choice. But again, the administrators then are on a clock of getting us out of administration before the new season otherwise we're kicked out anyway and we have to win the case to ensure those claims aren't going to be paid out in full. You'd think a settlement (whilst carrying its own risks) would be a quicker and preferred option.
