jimbo jones got a reaction from Jimbo Ram in Derbyshire CCC - Mickey Arthur Appointed
All back here on Wednesday for the next bout of misery? 😕

We should have scored at least 330 from where we were after 30 overs but our bowling attack is so weak I don’t think we would’ve defended that. Glamorgan strolled to 300 I think our best chance is to actually win a toss and bowl first at least then we know what we’ve got to score, anyway I’ll be back Wednesday probably after the rams have been knocked out the league cup 😀

Not happy about this….
Was relying on him posting vids of the goals, as I'm on my holidays. Though that might not be a problem…

This boy looks a talent and I've started keeping a close eye on him. Scored a half century in every game for the Midlands team as they went unbeaten and won the super 4’s tournament last month, already has some runs under his belt for the seconds, and he's only 17.
Hopefully he doesn't bugger off to Kent or somewhere next season 👀

Certainly from what I've heard, Arthur wants all format players. Basically we can't afford to pay big money for players who are just going to play in the T20 and he's earned that money from the past 2 seasons performances.
Scrimshaw has the ability to play red ball cricket, but history says not the fitness.
Pat Brown always felt like his replacement.

To be fair, we were really good before Arthur came in…🤔

It’d help if we’d occasionally win the toss, whatever the conditions we need to bowl first then see if we can chase 450 down 😂

298 for 9 off our 50. That is probably par or 20 short of it. We won't know yet.

233 for 6 after 41 overs. It looked like along tail for a 50 over game. We will see if it is now.

At the start of the month I was writing off Luis Reece’s Derbyshire career.
At the end of the month, he’s signed a 2 year contract extension, scored a double century, a century, and a fifty, named to the championship team of the month, and is miles ahead and almost certain to win the vote for championship player of the week…

A few wins for Derbyshire in the 50 over competition would be nice. Luckily, no clashes so I get to see The Rams too.

Wonder who Lloyd comes in for. Not sure on Lamb’s fitness, so could be him, or replace Potts and go with an all of the all rounders approach 🤔

Yeah, there’s not an obvious alternative.
Harry Came continuing his good form with 125 not out against Lincolnshire.

Worcestershire beat Gloustershire this evening, meaning we are up to the dizzy heights of sixth.

Heard great things about Eddie Barlow but he was just before my time. Wright and Kirsten were great, but all in all, during the period I have followed Derbyshire, it has to be Michael Holding 😊

Hmm, yeah been very disappointing. Never at any point looked fully fit, and has been one problem after another. The fact we signed him for 2 years, to solely play for us full time, probably makes the end result even more disappointing.
Best? Can you look past Eddie Barlow’s contribution?
All the greats were before my time really. First overseas I remember being excited about were Dean Jones and Michael Slater.
My favourite who I got to watch a lot would probably be Martyn Guptil.

Some interesting words from Mickey Arthur about the pitch when talking to Radio Derby. There’s never any mention of it on the club reports, but I recall Fletch said on commentary that he would pose the question, as it is very much the hot topic of conversation at the moment.
You can tell by how much grass they are leaving on it, that they are trying to get some life into the pitch but it's just not happening. I don't know how that's fixed or how long it takes.
Arthur's comments;
"It's hard to force wins here, there's been one win in four-day cricket since I've been here when we lost to Worcestershire in arguably a game we should have won.
"We have to do something, I thought this wicket was going to do all sorts, it was green and it ended up being incredibly flat. If we want to meet the ambitions we have, we've got to be getting wins at home and we need a bit of help out of the wicket."
