  1. I had a terrible day yesterday, my little ones terminally ill friend came around yesterday to play on the Xbox..

What a difference four months makes, he was full of life like your average 11 year old lad and now he looks like a 90 year old waiting for God, the ******* cancer has sucked every little bit of life out of him, I was coping really well until he watched a BMW go by the house and he said "when I grow up I want a BMW M4", I replied to him that you can achieve absolutely anything you want, how brave and courageous you are right now you will always be a success in life.

Been a while since I contributed to this thread and things have changed just a tiny bit since I did back in January.

Diagnosed with depression by the doctor back at the start of April and put on Fluoxetine. I've been going through counselling talking therapy sessions as well, stupidly thinking things would turn around quickly.

Unsurprisingly they're not and since starting medication, I've felt even worse. I've had horrible feelings of guilt which have been racking my brain and body on a daily basis. Countless times a day I'll break down in tears no matter where I am, just struggling to comprehend the mess I've got myself into. Broke my own record today with seven separate trips to the bathroom stalls.

I've got a girlfriend who I love to bits and she knows everything I'm going through and is being incredibly supportive. But over the last few days, I've noticed that I don't really feel anything when it comes to love or passion. I've read about the side effects of Anti-depressants and how they can take away emotions and feelings and I'm terrified they're going to ruin the best thing I have ever had with her - all because I'm not thinking properly.

My mind is constantly telling me I'm a bad person and regularly makes things up to further put the point across. These I could just about deal with, but it's as if it's trying to now turn me against the person I love the most. I've vowed to come off the medication because they've made me feel worse than I ever imagined I could - suicidal thoughts and feelings of worthlessness. I've been on them for six weeks and can't face them for a day more before I do or say something stupid. For me personally, I'd rather take the feelings I had before than have my own mind lie to me and feel nothing.

It's a really strange situation to be in is depression. I always thought it was something that was easily treatable - "oh it's only the mind, it's easy to control" sort of thing. I now realise mental illnesses are the most horrendous things you can get. Has anybody else had these sort of side effects from the pills?

I will also disparage you from continuing on Fluoxetine, nasty medication that I am surprised still holds a license.

Put simply, if you buy a Pixel all your GDrive photos and video storage is unlimited. Whereas my girlfriend's iPhone is trying to back up her billion selfies to the iCloud and doesn't seem to be working because they want money.

For the rest of my stuff, I have 1tb of storage from Microsoft that I get with an Office subscription I'd pay for anyway - more than I will ever use.

she sent most of them to me, I will store them on her behalf

Bit surprised by this point, having just received my iCloud receipt today, 79p a month for 50gb. 5gb account is free.

    Google Drive 15gb for free, $1.99pm for 100GB, $9.99pm for 1TB or  $99.99pm for 10TB

Dropbox 2gb free or £8pm for plus which gives you 1TB

Apple also offer 200gb for £2.50pm or 2TB for £6.99pm

Apple offer better prices, Google give the better free account which if you're under 15gb is fine but with backups, music and photos now that will soon get snapped up still

go on son, give it to him

DCFC Fans is an unofficial fans forum, we are in no way affiliated or connected to Derby County Football Club  Apple but if you put an Apple logo on a turd we will cue all night and buy it for £6k

Slightly off topic. Really liking the new control centre, wasn't a huge fan of iOS 10 swipe up then across.

Even customisable which is blatant Android copying

No, technology is moving forward at an exponential rate. The amount of money that companies like google and Apple are making are allowing them to invest in r&d projects that would otherwise seem frivolous.

Do you think google would've invested in photographing every street in the world, and then giving it away for free, if they weren't making silly money elsewhere. If not for that sort of investment, we'd all still be deciding between multiway, street map, or the rac route finder.

Its like the tv licence. We moan about it, but people pay for it and it funds all sorts of useful things that the BBC do. We might not benefit from all of them, but when someone in Uzbekistan checks the march report on the BBC website, our licence pounds have paid for that.

The fact you have a Samsung edge 8 or whatever, stems from some geek buying an Apple Lisa back in the day, Apple getting a shitload of money, and then being able to invest in projects like iPod, and eventually iPhone, which every other company could then take that idea and run with it. Maybe the Samsung phone is better now, but the modern smartphone owes everything to those original Mac users.

Apple spend £1.56p on development, it doesn't spend all day, every day fighting patent wars due to developing its own products, they tend to hijack huawei development, then the Chinese send them to court and win, then they bring the case to a US court and they overturn it, back and forth and then China get the arse and say you can't sell Apple phones on Chinese territory, they relent and pay then repeat, same with Samsung.

On the ethical side of things, and the massive mark up.

This is what gives Apple more money than god. But it is also what has been able to fuel the massive technological advancements we've seen in recent times.

I run a business. If I said Timmy business partner, let's invest in a new set of curtains, he's like 'how does that make us more money.' It's only a small business, every penny counts. I keep dreaming of the day when we're making so much profit I can just go, 'yeah, why not, I'll get those curtains, and I'll get the best Ines too.'

Apple are in that sort of position. Let's invest a billion on developing Siri. Will it make us a billion? Not straight away. In fact, if they didn't do it, people would still buy iPhones, so arguably it doesn't make them any extra money. But it gets the competition to sit up and think, we ought to be doing that too, and the whole industry moved on.

The more money they make, the more the can invest in new things. They don't have to, they would still make boat loads of money.

Lets invest a billion into self driving cars. Why not? They've got the money. But it won't necessarily make them as much as they're going to invest in it.

Thats the beautiful thing though. Money makes money. They can invest a billion into an r&d project like that, which might eventually come up with the next huge tech revolution, and make them a trillion.

but people will still get on at thema bout how much money they make. They're almost at a point now where they can't help it. They keep reinvesting, and doubling it, but at the same time moving the human race forward.

Thats got to be a good thing hasn't it?

    you taking the piss?

A bit like political party supporters then :p

Fanboyism and trolling a side, what actually makes one or the other inferior?

One criticism that is aimed at Apple products is the hardware specs are not up to those of a Android phone or PC. The argument to that is optimised software to a device won't need the same specs.

If you take an iPhone 7 and Samsung S8, both phones are capable of browsing the Internet, listening to music, watching videos, social media, pictures, filming and even making phone calls.

Run them side by side and you're looking at split seconds time difference, although those tests are not exactly scientific as you need to run them on clean phones, yet one may cache better than the other on the 5th 6th run.

So it pretty much boils down to software, the options, features, how easy it is to operate, this is where the debates are really to be had.

Android is great if you want full customisation and widgets, Apple is more rigid yet that suits people. I for one have no desire to change the font, customise the icons with themes.

For me, with the rigidness of Apple it's the little things they do have as standard, pressing the time will take to you to top of the page, double tap the home button lowers the full screen.

Samsung condense the site into a small rectangle in the corner, there is no default tap to take you to the top of the page. It's these little things that can be fixed with apps on the play store which you have to run the malware gauntlet.

Apple are more stricter with their apps, where I "believe" other than a quick scan you can upload an app to the Play store pretty much immediately (may be wrong).

iPhone on it's own is great, really is, but when you get sucked into that evil ecosystem it's even better.

MacBook, iPhone, iPad, Watch, any device I can read a text, pick up a email, sync photos. I can sit at my desk with a call through the MacBook, move away and handoff to the phone, no ending the call, seemless. Crop a picture in my photos, 2 seconds later I can grab it on another device. Sit on the toilet, Reading a lengthy article, return to the Mac and one click and it's takes me to exactly the same point so I just carry on.

I can go down the garden, upstairs, not thinking where's my phone, expecting a call. It's on my wrist, answer the call, done.

I'm sure this is all possible finding apps for Windows that sync with Android, but Apple it's out the box, you're not relying on 3rd party developers for updates, fixing issues.

When you turn that Mac on, there's no AVG running a security scan, no installing updates 1 of 2000, on and getting to your task within 15 seconds. I can even use my finger print now to unlock my Mac without having to type in a lengthy secure password.

That was more than I expected to write. I know someone asked me further back why is Mac better, didn't get chance to reply as I got caught up in the ethics debate, apologise for this lengthy post was aimed at you, just the inferior thing was a good starting point :)

bloody hell, your obsessed man

I can help, I have this dandy little attachment for my drill and I believe I could manage to do the work for high £xxx

Would never queue but but can understand why he would sell the devices on early. Used Apple prices in good condition with the box are really good.

Say you hold on to an iPad for years, it would work great but you may miss out on features, iOS does slow devices down if you're installing the latest version on say a 3 year old phone, it works but just a bit slower.

When it ultimately comes time to buy a new one, you might have to pay £600-£700, your old device being pretty much worthless. Trade it in each year, never have any problems and you will maybe get £400 for your old iPad.

If you keep trading in each year you get maximum resale value, I've never done it before receiving the new device but say you pay £800 for the iPhone 7, you can expect to get around £600 resale value. The iPhone 8 might cost £850 so it's cost you £250.

As I said to Lester earlier, if you go sim free it works out much cheaper, you get a better contract, the latest phone each year whilst saving £20-30 per month. Plus the initial outlay of a phone that would be on a 2 year contract.

For many people having the latest and greatest doesn't matter, all you do is browse the Internet, not fussed about iCloud and all that. An original iPad if you didn't max out the iOS updates would do just that.

I make websites, it's what I do, I need to see how it looks on all screen sizes, like building a car without having a road to test it on. No way can I afford to stay and one device and run it's course, then suck up the costs of replacing all the devices with no resale value on old.

New iPad and iPhone each year, minus the contract would cost me around £400, that's £33 a month, little over a pound a day.

Listing all Apple devices might make you look mega rich but you play the smart game it's really not that expensive after you've made the initial jump.

(this only works if you take care of devices, Not chuck them around like toys)

    Love you.

    Or anti Apple conspiracy theories.

You don't like Apple, that's great, enjoy your environmentally friendly phone that's made out of recycled wood and squirrel poo with all profits going to the Orangutan rebreeding programmes.

I buy Apple products not only because I enjoy using them, customer service is great and when you work online, creating websites you need to know exactly how a site looks, and fix any issues.

Took a Samsung S7 out once to see why Android was redirecting us to other pages, knowing I could return it within 30 days. It's a ball ache but part of why this site works, just like iPhones.

*Stats say iOS is the most mobile used operating system to access this site.

Apple has issued a recall of its product wall plug adaptors sold over a 12-year period, amid fears the device could cause electric shock.

    Key points:
•Australia included in mass Apple adaptor recall
•Adaptors with four or five characters or no characters on inside slot should not be used
•Adaptor can break and may cause electric shock
•Customers can take faulty AC wall adaptors to Apple store or authorised supplier

The tech giant has released a statement on its website that said the two-prong AC wall plug adaptor would be voluntarily recalled, after concerns the product could break and create a risk of electrical shock if touched.

    http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2016-01-29/apple-issues-worldwide-charger-recall-amid-electric-shock-fears/7123946

    12 years worth of mistakes....

no all electrical companies have recalls, its how you deal with them and the term "extension and exchange program" bullshit that Apple use grates on me, Samsung recalled the Note 7 initially to repair the problem then replace but then decided on reimbursing customers because third party contract batteries were deemed unfit.

  15. 3 minutes ago, David said:

All faulty electronics are covered under warranty, Apple has identified issues with a small number of devices which they have said if you own this phone with X serial number we will exchange, regardless of a fault on your phone now.

You think Apple are alone? you think no other electrical company has faulty products which they run exchange programmes for?

You're completely misunderstanding the difference through your anti Apple eyes of what a full on product recall is. Samsung urgently request ALL Note 7's to be returned, airline companies refused them entry on to planes because there was a full on product recall.

If you can't see the difference, no point continuing. I would say it's pretty obvious.

Product recalls happen across all retail sectors, kids toys that are found to have sharp objects that can become dangerous, food that may contain horse.

you know I am following your links from page 3, you gave the link with evidence and I have just shown the previous stamp from the wayback machine, you didn't argue about recall, replace or exchange then but you did state it was only the IPhone 6, I have shown evidence from the same page albeit further back in time to the contrary?

I don't own an IPhone, Samsung or any other, would I pay £1000 for a IPhone 8 that costs £25 to produce and pay no tax, no I wouldn't but that's my choice, you clearly like Apple products and I respect that.

As in exploding phones on planes. Not one where a small issue has been identified on a very small amount of devices, some which are triggered when the phone has been dropped on hard surfaces.

Yet to see any iPhone recalls, keep trying tho :)

so your argument is about T&C's, if it is replaced its faulty isn't it?
