With Alex Gibson-Hammond, Henry Jeffcott and Rashawn Scott being named in the official Derby County match report for the U21s 1-1 draw with Liverpool, rather than being named as Trialist A, B and C, does this mean they’ve signed?

U18s are 3-0 up at half time against Newcastle. Looks like they missed an early penalty.

I didn't catch it but it seemed considerably more competitive than games we were in last season, so some promise at least. If Buxton can turn this U21 side around and do what he did with the U18s then he deserves a lot of credit. Fingers crossed.

It's just a reserve league. I imagine it's to give the U21s more fixtures throughout the season which will allow them to keep match fit if needed for the first team

Not really! Mick Derby told me we had entered it as well as PL2. It is usually reserve teams of clubs that don't have academies - Mansfield, Blackpool etc. 
Maybe can play more of a mix of over-age players and also give our under 21s a better feel of the types of teams we are currently playing than just playing Prem academies?

I do like Jason Knight, a lot, but for an attacking midfielder anybody looking at his numbers from the outside would surely say he didn’t score enough goals last season, nor did he have enough assists. And that’s playing in League One.
Also, it doesn’t matter how much we think he’s worth, he’s only worth what someone is willing to pay.

On the other hand, there’s a gamble to be had here in that if we don’t sell Knight, and we get promotion, he may be willing to stay and sign a new contract in the Championship with Derby but, if we don’t go up, or he’s unwilling to extend his stay, he can leave for nothing next summer.
