  1. I don’t like the song much but it “works” because it’s easier for folk to sing along to. Same with “Sailing”. Not a great song and “we are Derby……” can be a bit repetitive and boring but it’s easier for everyone (or more people) to sing along to and build to a crescendo. It seems to be a sad phenomena - the worse the song the easier it is to get a crowd to sing along to 😀 I mentioned them playing “sailing” at the end of the game earlier in this thread. IF they really want to give it a go then it needs to be played as close to kick off as possible. My biggest issue with SBW (I don’t really object to the tune) is the transition into the singing part right at the start just doesn’t work.
  2. Pretty obvious I would imagine. A signing (or two) that he thought was nearing completion fell through for one reason or another.
  3. I’m confused. Are we playing Mansfield on Saturday then? I hope not as I’m driving up to Lincoln.😀
  4. Maybe he did but, as at Monday they weren’t.
  5. I’m sure he said on Monday that there wasn’t anything imminent
  6. Why are the stats contradictory? Surely they just suggest we finish the final 15 minutes (plus time added on) the "strongest" but, Pompy finish time added on "stronger".
  7. Based on that single game (I didn't really notice him when we played them at their place)? possibly although I'm not sure Seddon was that strong or faultless defensively. Would Seddon have dealt with the situation better if he'd been exposed like Elder was for one of their goals? We'll never know. In reality though, I think Elder might well improve (as I said earlier in this thread, he wouldn't be the first player in a Derby shirt to make a shaky start but then go on to be decent) and I haven't seen enough of Seddon to know how good he is (or not).
  8. Just a bit of a generalisation. I’ll mention it my father in law who was treasurer and then Chief Executive the council before he retired many years ago. I’m sure it will go down well. 😀 I worked for Staffordshire CC as a contractor/consultant for about 9 months - I can’t argue with your second statement. 😀
  9. Oooh. Touched the nerve there then😀 I don’t think I’m a happy clapper and there’s nothing wrong with fair criticism and praise but I just find the way he says it, and also some of things he says rather irritating. Regarding his credentials, sure he’s far more qualified than probably all of us on this forum but, unless I’m mistaken, his playing and coaching experience is limited to the rather specialist role of goal keeper isn’t it? Some of the pundits on Match of the Day have excellent records as players but that doesn’t mean they talk a lot of Sense.
  10. According to the press, Forest may try to defend against their case on the basis that if they’d sold Brennan Johnson earlier (at a reduced amount) they would have been within the rules. Well derrrr. They should have done so then.
  11. Nelson could perhaps have done better but Seddon was running in on goal and, to an extent, Nelson had to wait for him to arrive. Perhaps he could/should have tried to close him down but there would have been risk of committing himself too early. After all, he was the last man. I'd say, could have done a little better but not too much to be critical about.
  12. I’ll give it a go (joining in, not leading you understand? 😀) if everyone else going is up for it. 🐏
  13. Did anyone else notice they played “sailing” last night? Sadly (or thankfully if you’re not a fan 😀) they played it at the end as we were all leaving the stadium when no one was likely to strike up a rendition of “we are Derby”.
  14. Steele usually talks a load of tosh IMO. I’ve started mentally turning off when he talks.
  15. True but I doubt it’s not (and hope it isn’t) “you’ll never play for Derby again”.
  16. Assuming you meant “full” back 😀. Sorry, just me being silly. Yes I did mean left back. I never did know my left from my right 😀
  17. I’m really not keen on these “never wear the Derby shirt again” type comments. I’d be nervous the next time he’s picked at right back but it wouldn’t be the first time a player has had a shaky start to his career at Derby (or any club come to think of it) but then gone on to perform well. He was good going forward but there were some serious flaws in his defensive performance last night that need to be eliminated (or at least reduced significantly -no player is perfect) pretty damn quickly.
  18. W10, D1 and L1 over the last 12 isn’t it? Which is even better. Agree on Vickers and yes, Fozzy is injured.
  19. Like I said, funny how many of us see the game differently and that’s just football. You agree with the original post but I disagreed as have a few others. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  20. I said his best game for a while (he has been off it for a while) not his best game ever or even his best game this season.
  21. Hourihane may have scored the winning goal but, in my opinion, Bird contributed a lot more in terms winning the ball particularly in the first half. Hourihane did OK but it takes more than scoring a goal to win a game. That’s what often annoys me about “man of the match” awards. It often goes to a goal scorer (a la last night - there is no way Barks was the best player last night) as if any other contributions count for nothing.
  22. I thought he did well (for most of the game) and possibly his best game for while in my eyes. Funny how we can see things differently. I guess that's football for you.
  23. I agree to an extent but how do you distinguish between people who are unable to get to games and those that would normally attend but choose not to if it's streamed for free? Free streaming must inevitably lead to smaller crowds.
  24. I don’t think “being local” is particularly significant. Burton aren’t bringing that many and I doubt many people will buy tickets in the home end just because it’s Burton Albion. I reckon much nearer 25,000 than 30,000. Maybe less given it’s going to be damn cold and it’s live on Sky.
  25. You must be unlucky. Clear blue skies and not a hint of snow in Tamworth (just 7 miles north of Sutton Coldfield for anyone who doesn’t know the area).
