You couldn't make a case for Parker winning the fight. He looked like a decent boxer, but the size difference between the two and AJ's range meant he always looked like he was on the defensive.
Judges score fights for different reasons, and they would have favoured AJ for being more aggressive and dominating the centre of the ring. The referee didn't allow a close-up fight, meant AJ could just win rounds using his range.
Everybody in world boxing wants to see AJ vs Wilder. It's highly likely that played a role too when it came to the scorecards.

Povetkin Whyte would be a decent fight, and more realistic that getting Wilder.

Price and Povetkin up next I believe. I'm excited for this one, more so than AJ for some reason.

If Price wins he automatically jumps to top three contender in three different boxing organisations, and I think the mandatory for one of them. It's the chance of a lifetime for him, and I hope he pulls it off.

AJ looked overweight and quite sloppy against Takam. I think he's conditioned himself well for this fight, as he knows he's in there with a well-respected opponent who looks like he has some boxing nous about him.
I don't think Parker will be able to KO him. He didn't really look like knocking out Hughie Fury, who by all means looks like a big soft teddy bear incapable of causing any real damage with his punches.
Parker knew this and just went aggressive on him, knowing he can take Fury's best shots. But he didn't really set himself up for any punishing shots.
I'll go with Alpha's prediction. Parker will try and outbox him, come up short quite comfortably but manage to make it to the final bell. Wide AJ points decision, like 119-109, 118-110 or something like that.

Fingers crossed it pans out like the Chisora fight. That was great entertainment. Nobody really knows how good Lucas Browne is. He's clearly not a technical boxer, just a big guy with a powerful punch.
Whether he can set up a KO punch on a technical fighter is a different matter. He could get totally outclassed tonight, hope I'm wrong.

I would but most Derby games are Saturday 3pm for you guys, so 8am for me. I teach at the University on Saturdays 8am - 2pm. Unfortunately I could only grab midweek games which are too few to make it worthwhile.
I'm mainly asking as I know my Dad will want the chance to watch the games while he is here.
    Thanks for the info

Coco - 8/10 - the twist is a bit obvious (although my wife gasped and I was thinking ‘really, you hadn’t worked that out yet’), but it’s pribably good for kids - but besides that, Pixar have donebit again. Take some tissues, I don’t care how hard you think you are (although no child should see her Dad cry, so you should probably just go alone).
And, my wife being South American (from Peru), lots of it was very close to home, like going to see her family (she cried more at Paddington though).

As you say, GGG would cut the ring off much better than Lemieux ever could. He was terrible at it, allowing BJS to just walk to his right everytime they got close. Made him look like an amateur.
GGG is still the best in the division by some way for me.
BJS is a hypocrite, claiming GGG was only calling him out while he was overweight and sloppy.
More like BJS is now calling GGG out because he has aged and gone through Jacobs and Canelo in his last two fights. Two years ago BJS wouldn’t have lasted six rounds with Golovkin.

BJS has totally outclassed Lemouix here. This is without doubt the best performance of his career though Lemouix has been really poor.
BJS is just moving freely around the ring and Lemouix can’t get close. Looks so slow, offbalance and looked like a defeated man after just the 3rd round.
BJS vs Canelo would be a battle of the counterattacks. GGG would stalk BJS and just wear him down.
BJS would be better off going after Canelo. Has more chance of winning and there is no doubt more money in that.

Crawford had three fights in 2016, and two in 2017 with the latter unifying all the belts against Indongo. In fairness to him, there aren't many names at 140 and he was clearly a level above the rest.
I'm looking forward to seeing him at 147.

A shame how Cotto ended his career with a defeat. Similar to Pacquiao, seems to have extended his career unnecessarily and didn’t allow himself to finish it with a win.
Still, a great fighter who won four world titles at multiple weights.
Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux is next weekend. Potential fight of the year.

The welterweight division is the best in the world, but it's one of the least active. US promotions are rubbish.
Errol Spence has only fought three times in two years, and it will be eight months since his last fight against Brook when he faces Lamont Peterson in January, another who has only fought once since October 2015.
Khan is off the radar. Keith Thurman has no fights planned since facing Danny Garcia last March, likewise Danny Garcia hasn't fought since March nor does he have an opponent named. He, also, has only fought 3 times since August 2015.
Shawn Porter has a decent resume with Brook, Thurman, Broner and Berto as 4 of his last 6 opponents. But his recent win against Adrian Granados came 7 months after the Berto fight and it will probably be another 7 months until he fights again.
The whole set-up in the US is terrible.

I think it all depends on the situation. If it’s the 3rd round and the gulf in class is there and there is no fightback at all, it needs to be stopped.
But recently with McGregor and Takam, they’ve been stopped in the 10th or the 11th with each opppnent still fully capable of continuing.
Now, you have to ask whether it’s in their best interest. If they are massively down on points, which both were, is there much point in carrying on if they’re taking heavy punishment and have little to no chance of winning?
I just think fighters should be given a standing count, with the referee then saying if you don’t throw back or stem the onslaught I’ll call it off...
But referees just seem to jump in right away, and in some cases like Groves/Froch it can totally ruin a fight.

Billy Joe holds a world title, but he's far too inactive, being backed by a now second-rate promoter and ultimately has a fight style which is boring to watch.
The BBC did an article earlier how Eubank Jr is now Britain's second biggest boxing star behind A Joshua.
Despite holding a worthless world title, he definitely draws attention for his exciting fighting style and importantly he's more active, being in the media alot.
Eubank lacks punch power at 168 to be able to stop a fighter like Groves, and it will be interesting to see if he is willing to eat some solid jabs from Groves in order to close the distance and try and outwork him.
It's an intriguing match-up for sure.
As for Billy Joe... The only thing he is clinging on to is the one belt GGG needs to completely unify the division.
If GGG wasn't interested in holding all the belts, BJS would be utterly lost and content to fighting rubbish mandatorys.
Eubank is right. BJS is now irrelevant to him.

There is more pressure on GGG, he essentially has to stop Canelo as boxing politics won't allow him to win it on points.
Canelo is a tough guy though. I can't see him being stopped.
I'm convinced GGG will land the more telling blows throughout, but the decision will go Canelo's way.
