Two great goals and a great first 20 minutes, why can’t we play like this more consistently? COYR.

Think you have to factor in the opposition. Most of the times we've looked better we've been made to look so by weak opponents.

Also games like this Bird and Hourihane can strut their stuff and not have to do the grittier jobs.

Can only beat what's in front of you though, and fair play to them, although we've fluffed a few attacks we've kept going. Let's hope it breeds confidence.

    Bird hattrick?

    So there was a meeting…

    found this an interesting comment in the article;

The club also has plans to appoint a chairman and executive and non-executive members to the board who have footballing and sporting backgrounds.

What I also found interesting was the comment from Warne to the effect of 'I've been to board meetings, but not the last one as it was on a match day". Yep, they're talking about you not to you mate.

  3. How many managers realistically last that long after a vote of confidence?

Vote of confidence usually means 'you have a few more games to turn it around." but in reality it only happens when a team is doing terribly, and that upturn in form seldom comes.

We have a winnable few games, sadly not all in the league. Only takes one of the forwards to be on form to beat a team like Northampton and ease the situation a bit.

There should be an even bigger gulf to Crewe (but for a one off I quite fancy them to get a draw.) Wolves in the whocares cup barely counts as a first team fixture.

Barnsley is a bit of a free pass, so unless we've totally capitulated in the previous 3 then it's all about that next batch of 4 games which are against bang average or poor sides.

All players fully fit, and no excuses to hide behind - if we're still playing like dross and he won't make it past them regardless of what the club says now.

Never want us to fail, so hope that the run of matches through to December gives us a pretty achievable run of 6 or 7 wins out of 8 and leaves us looking at things more positively.

Either way it could all fall apart in January as players inevitably move on. Need to not only stay in the hunt until then, but also line up some decent replacements to come in and make an immediate impact.

A window like last January with mediocre loans and we're stuffed. Let's get some deals agreed in principle both in and out before that.

  4. He's going nowhere just yet, but I'd say him making December is doubtful.

I guess a really abject performance and defeat against Northampton might cause Clowes to act, but I'd be surprised if we don't win that one and keep it stumbling along a few more weeks.

Do the Crewe and Wolves U21 games really matter? Crewe might be the nail in the coffin IF Northampton is a bad night, but just wasn't quite enough to tip the scales.

Then its Barnsley that we wouldn't necessarily expect to win anyway.

The period it will come down to for me is Reading, Bristol, Port Vale and Leyton Orient. Those should be at the very least commanding performances and a bare minimum of 8 points even if luck goes against us.

My money is on him going after Reading or Bristol as it stands. Martin may well deliver the final blow.

  5. Nyambe looks good at right back, we've kept a few clean sheets with Nelson and Cash central, Fornah is starting to settle, Barkz has given us something in the last couple, so lets change it all. Waggy needed dropping but NML needs resting too.

Weirdly Barkz is also ex Blackpool, surely you want him in on a night like tonight. Surely one of our most likely scorers?!

  6. Some nice moments on the pitch.

Were working hard enough, lively and creating a few chances, but it's just not quite clicking, understanding not there between the players, not knowing where each other will be, and presumably a lack of sharpness.

Could and should be a couple of goals up.

Cambridge pretty poor really, the kind of match we should be totally in command of.

Love Nyambe so far, starting to become more solid defensively. Fornah has given us legs in midfield and we have threats from wide positions.

Just need a striker or partnership to provide a figurehead for it, but I am a bit more optimistic than previously.

  7. Lincoln never really at the races and let us have plenty of the ball.

That suited Wilson, Barkz etc, and I think 4 or 5 players linked up pretty well at times. Allowed us to create a few nice moments including 2 good goals.

Very happy with a win, clean sheet and for once a few things to cheer about.

Was that Radcliffe's debut? Shame Brown didn't get a few minutes too.

As as I'm aware we missed out on 2 targets due to budget and it was realised the budget wasn't quite as fab as was thought.  As such a further budget was made available.

    Presume this is out of the unspent Johnson money that Warne was talking about. Most likely 6 months as;

    a) we may want to reallocate that money back to a winger in January so need to stay flexible.

    b) Warne would be honest about him being cover, not being a nailed on starter, so January probably suits both.

    c) Also very much a full back from what I know, not someone who will create much going forward, so doesn't fit our long term squad goals.

That said I think he's a decent player, better than league one,

Comes with his own chant too

"Ryan Nyambe, he drinks the vodka, he drinks the jager, his xxxxs xxxxing massive"

  9. Smart team selection.

Cash left out following what must have been a draining few days. He'll have a couple of weeks now to get his head straight again.

Elder seems a better choice than Bradley right now.

Looking forward to seeing Fornah, but talk about tough game to make your debut.

Might need a little bit of luck or individual brilliance to get something from this one.
