He holds his position, receives and makes passes. He’s a ‘tidy’’ footballer.
The issue we have is he is one of three pretty similar midfielders and that doesn’t work.
Exactly a tidy footballer but that is it. Tidy doesn’t win you games nor does it contribute unless you have something else in your game like goals and winning the ball which he does neither.

Don’t know what the big deal is? Birds played like he’s downed tools ever since he broke into the team?
Can someone tell me what he does on a football pitch for saying he’s a “footballer”?
I thought a footballer could tackle, create chances and score goals and he does neither and never has? Can’t run on top of that -

He can shag right off as far I'm concerned. Complete lack of organisation and tactics and then he throws a player under the bus like that.
Pathetic.
I know! Was disgusting when Nigel Clough did it too. Brings all that sourness back

No excuses, if last season was a free hit Warne has had an entire summer to work on and recruit for this season. Looks awful
Recruitment looks terrible again we know what was needed no pace anywhere too slow all over the pitch!

It’s ok got Collins ready to come on!! Glad we are so well prepared with all these recruitment genius’s on the payroll

Is fine Max Bird the second coming of Pele is going to get the better of the likes of Carey, Dougall and Virtue-Thick! Any minute now….

Been an excellent investment at the complete expense of our attack
I know it’s early days but early impressions is the whole thing is a right pigging mess!

I thought we had the best defence in the division now?

I like Warne a lot. Thought we showed enough promising signs on Saturday. A little perplexed by some of his tactical decisions and post-match comments, but not overly concerned at the moment.
But if we are not able to critique a manager who has been in charge for nearly a year then what is the point of ever discussing DCFC? Might as well just replace everyone in the stands with clapping seals.
I think there are some slightly moronic fanboys amongst our supporters (they all exist on Twitter for the most part thankfully) who seems to be some endowed by Warne’s somewhat memeable quality that they don’t even want to entertain a discussion around him. Reminds me of Rowett and Rooneyism, a bit.
I agree with this I like Warne and am desperate for him to do well for us!
The league is looking significantly weaker this time so absolutely no excuses. Can’t say it’s not his team. I still have questions about the recruitment but I also acknowledge there’s time in the window still so hopefully we get the right players in that we need. Even if it’s prem/championship loans to get some pace in there!
If we don’t improve on last years position he’s gone but I really hope that’s not the case. -

Be careful Somersall Ram, people had a go at me for being critical of Bird.
Why what do they see he’s bang average?

I would love to know where people think Bird shout play. He has no physicality to pay centre holding midfield. Doesn’t tackle well or head well. Moved off the ball to easily. Can’t play no 10 position. Isn’t box to box energetic player. Doesn’t assist or score much. So where should we accommodate someone who appears to offer so little
Most over rated player in my 30 years watching. I don’t get the hype. If he was that good we wouldn’t keep losing to very average teams in a very average league. Don’t know he’s playing half the Time, physically weak and not athletic at all. Ok on the ball but nothing special.

He can do both. He can beat a man. Who do you think would make a better 10, him or Bird?
He’s probably better than Bird at both roles!

An unfit Washington the only attacking option on the bench. What a mess

No stand out strikers this year apart from Haaland for me as Kane is probably going to Bayern, the top midfielders are more expensive this year as well which makes things different. Will probably make a few transfers after the first week.
Villa will be decent so Watkins could be the next best forward after Haaland. On pens and no competition so maximum mins.

Warne has said the players he wants are at clubs waiting on bringing replacements first, which could be Rhodes or Godden.
Ive seen Stoke have a few ayers available, Tyrese Campbell being one but I imagine he would get a Championship move. However, Warne has said he wants pace up top, so maybe Dwight Gayle could be an option? 1 year left on his deal but seems to be out of favour.
Campbell is available?
would take him on loan!

Devils advocate. I’d like him to stay but - let’s say Clowes says ‘a bird sale was unexpected so any guaranteed income from it can go into this years budget’ and Warne can go and sign Moxon and Nombe with change and still bring in a 10 and LWB as he originally planned would we take it?
Like that 👍🏻

Warne loved Knighty. Was his favourite and how much did he sell him for? 1 year left the same. Will be gone if they Bid 1.5 and he wants to go

Great shout but unfortunately just had surgery on his knee and out for 8-10 weeks.
😔 bugger!

Jay Matete on loan from Sunderland?
Was at Plymouth from January last season.
Looked powerful and full of running and ran through our midfield in last seasons game we lost 2-1.
Is Warne living on borrowed time?

Take out max and get a midfielder who can run and tackle and houihane might b better than his 7 goals and 7 assists from last season.
Get some money now whist we can for him. Out of contract at the end of season
