  1. No point spending that sort of money on a position that I wouldn't call a weak point. Save the funds for positions where we need it.
  2. I look at Birmingham's transfers this season as similar to what we need. You could argue these players weren't good enough (as they have got relegated), but they bought in a similar profile of players to what we need. 6 fees paid out (including 5 for players under 25yo), for a total of 6m+. Will we have a budget that big? Highly unlikely. They also brought in a couple of free transfers of players aged 25-28, as well as 5 loans (mostly young players too).
  3. Blackburn take the lead against Leicester!
  4. I've gone for the Birmingham game - I'd love to watch them go down. Having said that, I do rate a couple of their players, Stansfield and Miyoshi in particular. Wouldn't mind us taking a look at them this summer.
  5. Here we go, Barnsley get one back. Would not put it past Bolton to mess this one up as well.
  6. Reckon he's a fan now though haha. He still regularly tweets about it and you could tell he was thrilled about promotion.
  7. Yeah, this one is getting done. Doesn't even sound that fussed about Adams being a Cardiff player next season.
  8. Kevin & Perry DJ set?! 😭😭
  9. What in the Che Guevara are they talking about? Unbelievably cringe.
  10. I agree. He's clearly not fancied there either - he's not featured in any of their squads since January and I don't believe he's injured.
  11. I'd be very surprised if we don't take another look at Harry Leonard from Blackburn. 20 years old and only a year left on his contract. He was the striker who was all set to come in on loan in January, before Eustace took over and pulled the plug.
  12. This seems like an odd point to make considering we were in those 'lower divisions' as recently as last week. Also, I've already seen more from CBT than I ever saw from Jozwiak in a Rams shirt. He was woeful.
  13. Niche one from me... Our 5-1 home win against Blackpool in the Mac1 season. They took the lead very early on in a first half that we utterly dominated. I remember being supremely confident of turning it around in the second half - it wasn't even a possibility in my mind that we weren't winning that game. Came out second half all guns blazing, Martin hat-trick, couple of red cards for them, and an easy three points in the end.
  14. You are absolutely correct - well spotted.
  15. 500K is right on the limit of what I'd be prepared to pay. 28, one year left on his deal, and still an unknown quantity in the Championship. If we can split the difference and go 350K + some add-ons, that would be great business.
  16. Ambulance chaser announces his retirement.
  17. Swear I've never seen @leroyoftherovers post anywhere but in the prediction threads. I respect it. They were fully committed to winning the league - no time for this chit-chat nonsense - and it showed. Congratulations.
  18. Yeah, bit of a head-scratcher for sure. Unless Bristol were offering astronomical wages, or he just thought their play style was a better match, it would probably have made more sense to wait until the season's over.
  19. 14 offensive players taken in a row to start! Has something like that ever happened before? Not kept up with the pre-draft stuff that much this year, but happy to see the Rams get Verse. Seems like a sensible pick that a lot of people had predicted.
  20. Found it! https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0cjdxqc/player?chromeless
  21. I am shocked that that compilation doesn't include Ed Dawes' very emotional speech from when we were saved - voice cracking and everything. For some reason, that's the bit I remember most.
  22. I'm 31 so can't offer any insight into retirement, but I do have a question about pensions (if I may hijack this thread). The typical advice is to take the age at which you started putting into a pension, halve it as a percentage, and save that much of your pay each month. So, for example, if you start at 30, you save 15% every pay check up until retirement age. And that should be enough to live comfortably upon retirement. Does that stack up with what people have done? I'm not going to ask people the size of their pension pot, but it would be interesting to hear perhaps what's needed as a multiplier/percentage of their salary. Also, any other financial advice for retirement?
  23. Let’s hope they do, Derbys defence isn’t the best and they could easily slip up doing that. Come on you Carlisle. 🥳 https://www.wanderersways.com/forum/topic/103103-posh/page/6/ We only have the keeper with the joint most clean sheets and the fewest goals conceded in the league. 18 goals conceded at home all season. I'd actually go so far as to say we DO have the best defence.
