Yeah. Fair do's. But is the reason that it's never been as popular simply down to the ease of which it can be spread around the planet? We had The Green 'un, the Sunday papers, local wireless, and eventually the odd highlights show. Live FA Cup final was about the limit... but half the households either didn't have a telly on which to watch it, the aerial had blown down, or they didn't have a coin for the rental meter! Is it more popular because it's better? Or because of what the youngsters refer to as "The World Wide Web"? 🤷‍♂️

I'm a big fan of the "We are only 8 points off second place/Auto promotion after 16 games, and there's plenty of time/30 games remaining for us to pull that back" viewpoint. ... But... If I were to start drinking the Devil's Advocaat... it could be fairly argued that we have lost ground by 0.5 points per game thus far. Carry that through to the season's end, and we could finish up being 23 points off the Auto spots. The latter, I'm not such a big fan of! 😲

That's a fair point, in all honesty. I'm sure many... if not all... of us would have been the same at that age. I could probably still name the two teams for each FA cup final over a decade back in the day. At least recognising and appreciating the top players throughout my teens was certainly a thing. Maybe it's not football that's changing as much as we may think it is? Maybe it's us fans that are changing (through age, I guess)? 🤷‍♂️

The only reason I'm still involved is thanks to... or the fault of... one Mr David Clowes. Heaven forbid, had the unthinkable actually happened, there's no way I'd be showing any interest in football now. I truly couldn't tell you who played in the last game I watched (full, or even highlights) that didn't involve The Rams. I'd imagine it was the last England WC (proper) game? WC & Euro qualifiers... Champions League... Match of the day... Live Prem and/or EFL games... Local parks...small time amateurs... none of it interests me, and hasn't for some time. I doubt I'd recognise any more than a dozen players names from the Prem, and I'd be amazed if I could match more than a handful of prem players to their current club. Even my participation on here is based on 40% Love of DCFC, and 60% "banter with the gang"! I don't even put this apathy down to "strong morals"... I'm just bored with the wider game, full stop. Disillusioned, I guess! Diving, money, VAR, Rich v Poor, too many games played, too many live games on the various TV options, the over-analysis of it all. I'm sure there's a link between points deductions and DCFC... but I wouldn't expect to find another anti-Warne rant in there though. Making reference to a Notts County fan giving a team talk prior to a live TV game involving Notts County, in a thread about live TV games? Sounds bloody fantastic to me, mate, and bang on the money. In fact, at the time of going to press, it appears I'm the only one to have offered a reaction to that particular post of yours, thus far... a positive reaction, I hasten to add. 👍 Still struggling to accept a thread about current live TV games involving no teams connected to DCFC to be an appropriate thread to place a post specifically designed to have a rant about Warne, when there are so, so, so many threads specifically designed to have a rant about Warne. I'm pretty certain I'm highly unlikely to have this specific opinion changed now, regardless. Sorry! I fear we are now going around in circles, so as much out of respect to our fellow readers, as to you yourself, I really must back away from the conversation now. I've had my moan. The style of football on show on live TV, between two teams, neither of which are Derby County, and neither of which are managed by Paul Warne. In a game in a different League to the one we play in. In a thread so not Derby County related, it's not even in the Derby County Forum. Do we go all anti-Warne in all and every thread that contains a reference to football? Why not go further, and hijack any thread that includes the name "Paul", or the word "Pride", "Park", or "Rubbish". God forbid anyone posting about their planned 2024 holiday to Rotterdam. Why, that is so similar to Rotherham, the holiday thread may explode! And how about the pics thread including knees? I know for a fact that Paul Warne has two knees, so it'd be open season in there! Notts County v Bradford City, in L2, Live on telly, in a thread that's specifically placed in the "Other Football" forum, with a direct link to our current plight? OK, if you say so. *Feel free to respond... the last word is all yours... I'm bored now!
