No? That’s literally when the tribunal would happen.

What Bristol have done, hypothetically, is avoided fighting with other clubs over an available player which would cost £2m in tribunal. To avoid that, they’ve spent £500k to sign him permanently now.

    Found this

tribunal is only needed when a player under 24 years of age moves clubs having reached the end of his contract. Whatever valuation the tribunal comes up with is non-negotiable. The player has already changed clubs and there is no right of appeal on either side once a figure has been reached.

Should have declared the sale of their stadium in the right set of accounts then.

Still don’t know how they negotiated a reduced penalty for that one.  They still think we should have been relegated instead of them.  Probably unable to read a league table

Who at any point has said he’s the “new Drogba?” It’s like you’re fighting an argument that isn’t there. Which over the top comments have there been?

All the positives I’ve seen anyone say is that he’s doing a good job for us this season, which meets the standards you’re describing.

But apparently he is just L1 average wish we had a few more average players in the 11😀

When will we not be skint?

when DC sells us to the right people that understand sustainable growth.  What we need ideally is a local self-made man with loads of cash to burn.  Someone we can trust to stay with us through thick and thin, what could go wrong?

It's a system we also still play. We don't just play one system. Sometimes it's a 5 at the back sometimes it's a 4..

Elder was signed as he's a left wing back AND a left back. He played left back for Hull when they were promoted. Not left wing back.

Nyambe clearly bought in as he can play as a RCB if needed but mainly as a better defending right back.

You're making it sound like we've completely abandoned 352. We haven't.

starting to wonder whether 352 only works with our captain on  the bench

But it’s similar to maths homework. There may a number of different ways you can do the sum but there is only one answer that the teacher will tick.

but in this calculation there will be many potential answers as long as it compliant with the standard expenditure rules.

I think it's more like we had to give the EFL a business they would let us have.

possibly but unless you are DC or SP that can't be certain.  if you present a budget to your boss and it is agreed without challenge then you missed a chance to make it more favourable to you

It’s not Warne’s fault that we are unable to sign the players he wants - it’s because of the strict business plan model that we had to agree too with the EFL. The club has the money to buy players and loan players, but we can only spend the amount that was agreed in the ‘loan’ pot and ‘purchase’ pot - we have other money but are not allowed to access it !!

There isn't much that we can do about it 🤔

what are these EFL restrictions?  Nobody seems to know.  Maybe they exist maybe they don't but DCFC have said that the EFL agreed the budget the club had prepared.  So it is our budget, perhaps they prepared it in anticipation of what the EFL would expect and next year we will be able to spend more?  If we are still in Div1 and we have continued to make the losses recently announced I very much doubt it.

I think the big realisation from this window is that we're not as flush as first thought, either through EFL restrictions or our own frugality. The message this time has been very clearly the club cannot put much money into signings. I'm guessing the restrictions we're still under are quite harsh but for some reason we're reluctant to throw the EFL under the bus by saying this explicitly.

Having tight restrictions that massively limit our transfer dealings is absolutely not Warne's fault.

My main issue is the complete lack of tempering expectations from the club. Why did we ever come out and make comments about having a 'good budget', when in January we'd be having to do weird dealings like doing a permanent transfer as an initial loan? If the restrictions were still tight we should have been subtly warning fans that we likely still weren't able to spend transfer fees- everyone assumed Warne was being coy when he inferred this, turns out he was closer to the truth than we thought.

Yes it seems odd and surprisingly underhand.  Not having a dig at DC because it is his choice whether to throw more money at this.  Lower expectations = lower season ticket revenue?

True but how many deadline days have we smashed? Not since Mac 1 believe. Even Rowett we got gazumped on Lookman and missed out on Grosicki who later signed for Hull and was class.

I reckon we'll get Gregory or some old codger of that nature and that'll be it.

Restrictions lifted for next season when the league will be three times as tough.

The budget won’t change unless we get promoted

I don’t know about Shambolic , but we do know , we have a 4 year plan . If we wanted to go up strong like Ipswich , would we be paying top wages to ageing players with injury issues? We look to be “ Steadying the Ship “.

Every year we have a 4 year plan just we never progress from #1.  I don’t recall the current plan though.  I would guess that if yr1 dies not result in promotion then yr2 season ticket sales will reflect this?

I think both Smith and Gregory could do a decent job for us, just through until the end of the season and the end of the financial restrictions.

So you believe DC is itching to throw more money at the club?  I am not convinced but time will tell

I thought we played better when we went to three at the back on Saturday. Bradley was effective and Wilson immediately looked stronger with the confidence of knowing he had cover behind him.

But Cheltenham aren't the most attacking of sides and I've been less than impressed with how the back three have worked together in previous outings. Especially at opposition set pieces.

On balance, I would see how much difference Nyambe's return makes to the lineup before I made a change to a back three, and at least give Sibley a couple of further games at left back before his inevitable re-dropping. I thought he was one of our brighter players on Saturday (despite the odd mistake in a position he hasn't really played much of for the best part of a season.)

Agreed that was the first time 3 and the back seemed to work but like you say it was just not cheltenham.  I actually thought it worked due to our captain being withdrawn and the consequential appearance of Bird who was any anonymous before then

You could flip it the other way and say that Warne is hampering the scouting dept by shunning their suggestions to the point that these are the only available players.

Whatever the truth is the football recruitment needs addressing. We're looking subpar and old fashioned.

Eddie effing Lewis, wonder if he is available

What is the point in our scouting department? What do they actually do all year?

So says everybody here twice a year every year since the arrival of the mad one.  Does seem we end up with crap or broken ones and overpay for them
