    We are and we aren't.
We had a non serious buyer, who slipped through the net to be "preferred".  When he was offered PBS that is when we were back to square one.  No movement, but illusionary movement.
Now he has gone, the jeopardy has increased - but progress is being made.  Without jeopardy, this is never going to end until the debt is so large, any deal will involve us being essentially a business loan with a football club attached.

Yep , we are now at the point we should have been months ago , the fantasy buyer is gone, he was never going to buy us and all he has done is waste time and fool some fans into believing we are not in the absolute dire life threatening position we are in ,
now we see how much anybody who is willing and able to put the money in is actually prepared to pay for what is the shell mel Morris left of derby county,
if he had a shred of decency he would swallow his loss on the stadium and hand it over to the man prepared to service the debts and mess and perhaps build us up again ,

So who is your bringing in given the choice might be minus 15 or liquidation and start at the very bottom again with our golden ticket gone and a phoenix club?
1, Ashley may pay enough to avoid minus 15
2, if you can magic up a buyer who is willing to pay enough to avoid it then I’m all ears

I think the club's mortality, at present, is difficult for many to comprehend.
We are flailing around in the Pacific Ocean with sharks everywhere.  We are hundreds of miles from shore.  We need a boat, a dinghy, a high flying jet to call for help and bring someone to us.  If someone comes and offers us a hand up, but we're sleeping with the livestock so be it.   We can start our lives again when we get onto dry land.
We are beggars and we cannot be choosers.

It would be horrible.  The club starting in East Midlands League Division 6 next season, or whatever it would be called, would be somewhat worse.
15 points is five wins.  Five.  Or fifteen years getting back to LG2, with a good tailwind.

Can folks stop this idea that just because someone is incredible rich they should be happy to over-spend to save the club or to make sure we can start the next season on zero points.....people simply don't get to be incredibly rich by frittering money away unnecessarily. It's also part of the 'game' that investors play to buy something as cheaply as possible and turn a huge profit (look at the finance/crypto threads if you need proof for how many ordinary people are doing exactly that (though at a far smaller scale)).
I suggested previously (though probably over 1500 pages ago) that if (for example) Ashley buys us, he won't care too much about getting promoted in the short-term. It will be a long-term project with the aim of making us a sustainable PL team in the next 10-15 years. He's therefore going to pay the bare minimum that he can get away with.....I've used Ashley as an example, but I suspect the same applies to the majority of other possible owners with no current ties to the club. It simply doesn't make sense to chuck money at the club...
Kirchner's agreeement to pay what the EFL and creditors demanded made no sense for a club heading into League One - there simply isn't the value in the club without the ground attached....I really can't see anyone else being willing to match his deal. We either start next season in League One on -15 or we get liquidated and come back as a phoenix club in a year's time - I really can't see any alternative scenario that makes sense now CK has delayed so much and effectively chucked us in the creek without a paddle

If he is a fantasist, he has done no such thing.  He has delayed the day we escape from our troubles.  In the absence of firm proof he is anything other than this, I believe we should all move on from him.  His offer may well have made us feel we may eat lobster when porridge and beans is what is on the menu.

I think you're being a bit naive there Mostyn. Failing an anti money laundering check has inherent reputational damage. Anyone with £21m can afford a good lawyer. The authorities will not block transfers without good reasons.

Man claims to have sent money. Money doesn't arrive.
Man claims money has been sent but the delay is anti money laundering check.
    Money never does arrive.
    Logically there are two options.
    A, it was never sent.
B, it failed the anti money laundering check.
Whichever was the case, was that really someone we wanted owning our club?

    With respect.
Business people buy brands. History and affection is what makes a brand. Why put 1884 on everything if it didn't matter?   I wasn't alive when Clough won the league for this team; when we were in European Cup.
We support the same team.  I live 80 miles from Derby, and have an array of choice in who I support.  It would be far more convenient for me to support a much more successful team that is much more convenient to me.  I don't.
We are sticky supporters of a never to be remade brand.  That is value.

Exactly right. He knows the club’s potential, he’ll accept -15 because he understands how profitable this trade could be if he waits it out (at our expense). He paid too much for Newcastle and won’t do that again

This will get worse before it get's better.  Negotiations like this need to go to the wire.  People like Ashley know what they are doing, and everyone thinks they can get a better price until it is manifest they cannot.  He is waiting to give people two choices: get paid something or get paid nothing.
The sooner we reach that point the better, as it will be hard - but it is the one shot at sustainable survival we have.

This was clearly inevitable and thank goodness he has gone, as we need a realistic buyer.  I would have loved him to have been real, but it was patently obvious from the middle of last week that he was not - and we need to move forward, so happy we have got over a big hurdle.
Everything is now back on the table, which is positive.  As I said yesterday, we need a proper crunch point to force minds.  We cannot delay this anymore and should have confronted this in January; we need to face down our problems and come to a solution.  Hard choices are going to be necessary - and fifteen points is a very very small price to pay.
Promotional pushes and stuff like that are irrelevant - even relegation again might be a necessary evil  We need to survive as a club, and L1 L2 etc don't really matter.  In three years we can worry about those things.  Today, we are contending with the sharks so our other instincts need to go on hold until we are safe and sound.

No bidder wants to go first. They want to leave it to a minute to midnight so they can sweep in for the very best deal they can get. @CBX1985 made a very good point in pushing for a time limit. It's the only thing that is going to drag people to the table to discover whether they're serious or not.
The people who have been running to the front have been the two joke candidates in Erik Alonso and Bin Zayed, and Kirchner who came across as fairly naieve in the end. I think the more serious candidates would need something to bring them to actually make a decision.
