He was brilliant in the first game I brought my 2 lads over for. 4-0 v Wimbledon. The boys were ecstatic as Kinky had previously played for our local club, Ajax, and now, aged 28 and 30, are still Rams.

I don't. I do power my laptop down at night. Power it up again and there's that damned cookie request again...
Fortunately, my security software stops sites "following" me.

... the digital kind.
I log in to this site. Disable all the cookies I don't want monitoring my every move. Browse, post, as one does and then log out. Next time I log in, the damned site asks my cookie preferences again. It would be less bothersome if there was, as there is with many sites, a simple reject all button. There isn't. You have to click all the ones you wish to turn off..... time and time again.
It's getting a right pain in the 'arris.

A lot or talk about Derek Hales…. Is he still available?
Aged 71 now, maybe we should have thought about him last season... 😉

Let’s be realistic he will be gone in the summer. He doesn’t score enough , he’s got incredible work ethic which is sort of his downfall as he’s become a utility player rather than push on in a given position which would have been better for his development. He’s a Republic of Ireland international and out of control so putting all that together I’d say £2m max plus add ons and a sell on percentage. He hasn’t shown himself to be worth anymore he’s not a goal scoring midfielder or a 20+ goal a season striker.
in the worse case scenario we don’t go up realistically our young players value would be like this.
Cashin 3-4 m maybe 5m
sibley £750k- £1m tops
knight £2m +
Bird £2m +
considering our financial situation and restrictions if we were to sell all four plus each with say 10-20% sell on clauses that’s £10 m there that could go along way in league 1
... and, unless some of the restrictions get eased/lifted in the summer, we won't be able to spend a penny of it on transfer, loan or agent's fees. Won't help with wages either as there's a wages cap in place as well as a spending limit. Any and all incoming fees will be parked until the summer of 2024 when we can, once more, pay fees. Add to that any profit from this and next season and that is the size of PW transfer budget. The club will, from now on, pay its way.

He is well short of our 6 footers.
Wiki says 1.84m, so do several of the football transfer and stats sites. What's the source of your information on his height.
I wrote in a previous post that reading he's 6 foot was a surprise to me as he looks shorter. Available info appears to point to him being 6 foot. Optical illusion?

@Brammie Steve going on the last couple of performances, it doesn't seem to matter if we have owd buggaz on the park, the kids or both. There are no real chances being created. even when we have the upper hand in a game.
Solve that problem and we're in with a chance.

I would have thought with David Clowes taking over the club on 1st July that this will fit quite well with the EFL's accounting period.
Logically, you'd have thought so. It will all depend on when they decided to have the company year start/end for tax purposes. Will they start with Jan to Jan (starting with a 6 month "year" or stick to the Tax year, beginning April 1st or do summer to summer?

Cash's Wiki says he's 1.84m which is 6' and 0.44 inches. I would never have guessed he was that big. Obviously it's an optical illusion to confuse opponents 😉

Although I thought Collins looked better out wide than in the middle, but that's not saying much! 😄
Seems to spend more time out there...

Do you think that any such accounts prepared as a result of rule (I.e. where the accounting reference falls at any other time) are for the EFL’s eyes/purposes only? I honestly don’t know.
I may be wrong, it happened before with my first marriage 😉 , but I take it to be "when your financial year makes it impossible to submit those accounts, you create a "2nd set" to cover the EFL's "summer to summer" period. So one set of accounts running from/to the date the company started and another running June/July to June/July for the EFL.

I think morally, it should have been a penalty but, refs seem to rule out a penalty if the defender gets the slightest of touches first unless they completely wipe out the attacker. It’s quite possible (although some will deny it) that we may have avoided conceding penalties over the years due to the same interpretation.
The wrestling at corners also annoys the hell out of me and should be stamped out. But, once again, I suspect our defenders are possibly/probably as guilty as our opponents.
As a ref, at 69 it's an occasional thing these days, I get annoyed whichever side is doing a "Mick McManus". It aint allowed, never has been, so why do it? OK, so we all know it started with the Italians, Spanish and Argentinians who got away with it and it spread... To me it's a sign that you're not good enough a defender to cope... Most of the time, the defender never even looks at where the ball is or where it's going, they are simply intent on holding on to the opposition player at all costs.
My playing days started when I was 7. Last 11 a side at 53 and last 5 a side indoors at 59. Not a single booking in all that time. I also played a lot of rugby so I wasn't a softie, just kept within the rules.

Think we need to move on from blaming the EFL….and the refs….and Warne….just get behind the team 😁
L1 refs have been, on the whole, poor. The "tackle" on white at Posh was a penalty. Not given. 3 times at 1st half corners, a defender had Fozzy in a bear hug. Not an issue until the kick is taken. Once the kick has been taken, unless the player releases immediately, it's a foul inside the box and, therefore, it's penalty. There's 3 more penalties not given. 4 in a single game.
Referees need to start enforcing the Laws of the game and stop this stupid all in wrestling at corners, free kicks and long throws... and the 6 second rule. Obstruction? Happens every game. When did you last see an indirect free kick for obstruction given? Now think about how many cases of obstruction you see at every game...

The 2nd one harps back to the Tin Man's testimonial when thousands of 'Gers came and mixed with the Derby faithful. A bond was born that day.

Taken from EFL...
... provided that in either case the accounts are prepared to an accounting reference date (as defined in section 391 of the 2006 Act) which falls between 31 May and 31 July inclusive. If the accounting reference date falls at any other time, separate accounts for the Club or the Group as appropriate must be prepared for a period of twelve months ending on a date between 31 May and 31 July inclusive, and in such a case “Annual Accounts” means those accounts.

Ronald Koeman 5'11"
Frank de Boer 5'11 1/2
Current Ajax and NL FB/CD Jurrien Timber 5' 10 1/2
Lisandro Martinez MUFC/Argentina 5'9
Daley Blind 5' 11
You don't have to be 6 foot 4 to be a good central defender. Some of those I mentioned also played full back but were no slouches at CD at both club and international level.
I mean, Colin Todd was only 5' 9 and he was great alongside Roy Mac who was 5'11...

I just think he is a young lad in a position where experience is everything. Many centre halves hit peak at late 20s and beyond.
Will his height restrict his progression? Not sure I mean Cannavaro and Baresi were only 5 feet 9 I think? What is Cash 6 foot?
Although the Netherlands are currently playing the likes of van Dijk (1.95m - approx 6'5") and Thijs de Ligt (1.89m - approx 6'3") they have a history of playing quality footballers there despite them being under 6 foot.
Aron Winter 1.76m - 5'9
Ruud Krol 1.84m - 6'0 1/4"

It’s what we do, even when we aren’t forced to by EFL restrictions as we are st the moment.
Or, as Mel once said, “It’s the Derby Way”!!!
Yep. Buy donkeys who have had less than average careers. They then have one good season at CF so buy them and... play them on the wing. As we have proven on more than one occasion, that doesn't work.

Wikipedia seem to have this wrong as well https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivian_Woodward
And this site says the same, 29 goals in 23 games - this beats Steve Bloomer's 28 goals in 23 games https://spartacus-educational.com/SPURSwoodward.htm
It seems someone has now changed the Wiki page to 29 in 23 which would, indeed, put him 1 ahead of Bloomer. I had already contacted myfootballfacts pointing out their error, seems I'll have to amend my comments to them pointing out 10th place is correct but they've transposed the goals and games data.

Todd is literally the best player I've ever seen with Charlie a close second.
His lack of caps was largely down to being played out of position and his face not fitting.
I tend to agree on King Kev, but not sure what Toddy's weaknesses were.
Todd and Nish both set records but you don't think they'd get half of what Grealish went for?
Forward players always go for more than midfielders or defenders with keepers a distant 4th...

I always thought that Steve Bloomer had the highest ratio of goals per game for England but I looked at this and saw that Vivian Woodward is mentioned. Got to be honest, I'd never heard of him. I think games tended to have a lot more goals in them back in those days (look at most clubs record score and it's always a hundred years or so ago). But still, I agree, halve his strike rate and he's still a one in three finisher at club level - which puts it into perspective.
Woodward did worse than Bloomer with regard to goals and games. He got 23 in 29 games for England between 1903 and 1911 @ 0.8 goals per game. Bloomer 28 in 23 games between 1895 and 1907 @1.21 goals per game.
At club level Bloomer scored 352 in 599 games. 1 goal every 1.7 games. Woodward scored 97 in 244. 1 goal every 2.5 games
myfootballfacts seems to have this wrong.

Just going by the stats...
352 goals in 599 matches in 2 spells with Derby and one with M'boro in between at an average of a goal every 1.7 matches.
28 goals for England in 23 matches, that's 1.21 goals per game. That's a record that doesn't look like it would ever get broken by anybody making a minimum of 10 games for England.
Averages like that he'd be £200M+ these days.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, Steve Bloomer.

It's impossible to say as we'll never see Hales play in this team against this opposition or Collins play in the team Hales did but Hales wasn't very good at all. Possibly not as bad as we remember him because he arrived in his prime (I can't remember how old he was) after scoring for fun at Charlton so our expectations were probably much higher.
Read my assessment of Hales at the bottom of page 2 in this thread. Tells you all you need to know about the lad. He was 25 when we signed him.

What about Derek Hales
I always smile when I read "Derek Hales" when it comes to "poor DCFC players". Admittedly, he only got 4 goals in 28 appearances so the stats say he wasn't very good. We paid £440K for him. Sold him to Wet Spam for £330K. He scored 10 in 24 for them. They sold him back to Charlton for, IIRC, £100K. IMO 10 in 24 at WHU was a decent return.
Pre Derby, he was at Charlton. Scoring goals for fun. How? He had a strike partner (I still think strikers should hunt in pairs), Mick Flanagan, a 6 foot 3 striker. His knock downs and flicks on supplied some of the ammunition for Hales to score. The rest came form his running on to through balls using his electric pace over 20 yards. That was his skill set. That was his style. DCFC saw the goal stats and bought him. Once bought, we stuck the number 9 on his back and played him as the target man. Not his bag by any stretch of the imagination. His goal stats stand up everywhere he played. Except that is at Derby. We played to his weaknesses rather than his strengths and I blame DCFC for the lad's failure at the BBG.
Truth is, he only became available because he wasn't the only Hales that MF was "scoring" with. That led to a training ground fight and the transfer away.
Basically, I blame the club for Hales' ineffectiveness, not Hales.
