It was certainly a sliding doors moment, though we did win another title under 2 years later. I think the sacking of Dave Mackay was similarly catastrophic. That was an unnecessary and disrespectful by another Chairman, George Hardy, who thought he was the most important person at the club. You could say that Clough, a few months after Mackay's sacking, deciding not to leave Forest and come back to Derby after giving the board every indication that he wanted to was even more decisive.

The creditors don’t have to accept why the PB is offering, the only way HMRC will accept 25% is if the other 75% is agreed to be repaid over a few years.

QPR after administration in 2001 only had 5 registered players, Holloway put together a squad of out of contract players/journeymen, but most of all he built team spirit, first season in “div3” we were mid table, 2nd season play off finalists, 3rd season promoted as runners up, to be fair those three seasons were great from a game view, after 6-7 years of downwards movement form the PL days we were finally winning games.
only downside is we exited admin with a bigger debt than when we entered thanks to the ABC loan, but without it we would have gone bust.

Lawrence is a footballer controlled like all of them by an agent, you couldn’t offer him a contract on what he’s currently earning as you can’t afford it, no way will his agent allow him to take a pay cut of the extremes he would have to to fit into what will be your new wage structure.

There's no reason why they won't already have a full picture of the club's finances. They'll all have signed Confidentiality Agreements, Quantuma SHOULD have put together an information room - you simply don't get anything more than a provisional expression of interest without that. From being appointed PB, there should be no material changes or surprises from the club's end : it should be more about reaching agreement with the Creditors, especially MSD, HMRC and of course MM and the EFL. If the PB falls away after this stage, it'll either be because agreement can't be reached with those parties, or Quantuma haven't done their job properly in putting together the financials etc.

Excuse my ignorance of financial law/practice but naming a PB doesn’t guarantee they will end up buying? Wigan had several before they were eventually sold, being named PB just gives the bidder a chance to scrutinise the books properly and to try and negotiate with the creditors, if say HMRC stay firm the PB can just walk away.

That’s why I’m surprised about the 5 Million non returnable deposit being stipulated!

Most are aware of that on here, It just gives the PB the time to scrutinise the books, See what debt they are taking on and other sundries, Appleby and co i'm sure would have a good idea on what's what as he's an ex joint owner, Binnies on the otherhand are wealthy but stepping into the unknown where English "soccer" is concerned in other words a "god damn minefield" Ashley is a warhorse he'll screw the last bit of blood he can out of this situation, And if he gets it i'll be well pleased, Someone WHO KNOWS what's what in English football

last paragraph seems to say that it goes towards community football projects, so I would guess that each yearly payment does go to charity rather than the EFL

The 40 million was actually about 20 million cash and the balance being transferred into equity by the owners ( so they effectively pick the tab up for half the amount) the actual remaining 20 million gets paid to charity and I believe QPR gave it to the Grenfell trust.

But aren’t you still losing 1 million a month, surely (and it’s not just Derby) out goings have to be less than incomings.?
This is where the whole “allowed to lose £39million over three years “ falls down, teams actually work to that, Why? Surely they should be working at at least breaking even. It only takes a minor blip to screw it up and put teams over.
wasn’t it Risdale who included qualifying for the champions league every year in Leeds Budget?
It has taken QPR 7 years to get anywhere near sustainability and we are still losing money each month, sooner or later players and more importantly agents are going to have to come to terms with receiving less money or half the league will end up in the position you are currently at.

When you are taken over if you sign your current squad on their current contracts won’t you end up in the same position again?
Surely any new contracts will have to be given that are sustainable, the ones the likes that Lawrence are on you obviously couldn’t afford, what makes you think these players will take a pay cut?

You are joking, they were all at the end of their careers picking up wages no one else would pay and by the time we had finished were worth the square root of zero, most down to Harry Redknapp.
most just stayed getting splinters on the arses collecting the ludicrous pay they were receiving.
Took 2-3 years before we could even start to correcting the mess he left us in.

That’s the point, there was no points deductions in place at the time, fines were all that was in the EFL book, hence the change since, obviously having very rich owners a points deduction would have hurt us a lot more, definitely would have resulted in going back to league 1, Leicester and Bournemouth also benefited from this as well.

I can’t believe there’s any credence in either claim, WW only ended up in the championship in a raffle in the first place, I still don’t know what Steve Gibsons grievance is, as you say it has potential for a huge domino effect.
I know for sure that if Villa hadn’t beaten you in the PO final then they would probably be in your position right now.

The majority of the overspend could have been avoided if Tony Fernandes hadn’t got star struck and listened to first Mark “I interviewed QPR” Hughes who used his agent for all of his signings including Stephan Mbia who thought he was signing for the Glasgow version of Rangers, all on big contracts with no relegation clause in them, then allowing Harry the spiv Redknapp to overload the squad again with his favourites who follow him everywhere.
All we had to do when we first went up in 2011 was to stick with the squad who got us there and use the money to improve the infrastructure.
it’s taken 6 years to get to be living within our means, our current squad cost about 9.5 million and considering Fulham’s and Bournemouth are about 150 million we are doing far better than we should.
If we don’t go up this year then I would expect Willock , Chair l, Dickie and Dieng to all be sold for biggish money and we will start the cycle again, basically the Brentford model.
The fact Mel never paid the tax on your players wages probably shows that you have also been living beyond your means, hopefully when you come out of Admin ( I reckon you will) the new owner will run your club properly going forward.
The hardest part is getting some of the fans  onboard especially those vocal on Twitter etc who despite what you’ve been through will still be demanding a twenty goal a season striker no matter what it costs.
get it right over a couple of seasons and it will allow the odd luxury like Charlie Austin to have a serious crack of at least the play offs.
