Its interesting thinking about the youth development side now...

Thinking about it this way (by year they broke into the first team for the first time, Italics represent the players first appearance with bold then showing when they became established):

2002: Holmes

2003: Huddlestone, Holmes

2004:

2005: Barnes, Addison

2006:

2007:

2008: Addison

Then Nigel comes along:

2009: O'Brien

2010: Hendrick, Ball

2011: O'Brien, Hendrick, Mason

So, in the 7 years before Nigel we'd only gotten 4 players out of the academy of any real quality (I may have forgotten someone), now suddenly we've got two in 3 years under Nigel with another two who look likely to in the near future.

You missed Brayford and Ball, not that I'm one to talk about missing players on my eariler effort in this thread.

I only picked players born after 1987...therefore no Brayford and Ball hasn't featured.

...and they didn't look that bad either. Good times are to come.

...sorry... 24... Still very young though.

That cant be right.

We had a 15 year old , 18 yr and 19 yr old.

Not many I can think over 24; Croft Shackell and Roberts and I think only Roberts over 30.

Quite a few young uns on the bench too, Doyle Cywka Maguire. Plus Bailey and Brayford out injured and Callum Ball stil kicking his heels.

Not sure how many of these will make it, but hopefully we can keep bringing players through.

This whole exprience requirement is a total myth, look at how well Norwich have done in the Prem this season!

You can't win games with longball tactics, but Stoke are doing alright...

Experience does help a lot. It doesn't mean you can't live without it though.

We're still playing kids, no matter how anyone tries to dress it up. Gareth Roberts is easily old enough to be Mason Benett's dad. Players are supposed to get on and have a great team spirit, but I think old Gareth might feel a bit wierd taking his best mate Mason out for a drink after a win.
