Just played my first game online head to head season game and stuffed Leeds 3-1, makes me feel slightly better that I'm not the worst player out there

I won one game online on penalties even though I got raped in the ninety minutes, although in extra time I was ok.

The other two games I've played online I lost 4-0 and 4-1.

Pretty much everything. Almost every single aspect of the game. The defence, obviously, then attacking wise it feels like every cross I make is cleared, feels like every shot I make is blocked, feels like the CPU are CERTAIN to score unless I frantically button mash. Although the ONE thing I can do is pass, because that system has been kept unchanged from when they redesigned it last year.

I'm going to go back to the drawing board. I'm starting from 'amateur' difficulty, changing every control to manual and teaching myself how to play all over again. My style of play that has been reasonably successful in the last three FIFAs has been worked out by people and now the CPU!

I will be back for FIFA 13.

try online play, its the best part of the game by far and the game come's alive and more human.

Currently playing as Arsenal in career mode on professional.

Played 7, won 2, drawn 5 in the league.

Knocked out by Swindon Town on penalties in the League Cup.

What I dislike:

-Career mode is still very unpolished, they've not really progressed it for years

-AI defending goes from the ridiculous to the sublime by changing one difficulty level. Painfully easy on semi-pro, irritatingly hard on pro and above

-Lack of support for strikers from the midfield regardless of who you are. Sucks the enjoyment out of attacking, the only way you can score against the AI is by holding it up, peeling off defender and shooting from distance or outpacing the defence and drawing out the keeper and passing it to free player making a late run.

-Regularity and controversial nature of penalties

-Defending crosses

-Erratic positioning of defenders

-Penalty shoot outs

What I like:

-Everything else

I've never been a "great" FIFA player although I could hold my own, this game I'm proper duff, can't defend, can't pass and rarely venture out my own half but I love it!

I will improve over the weeks but I love the fact I've got a learning curve once again, another re-skinned FIFA 11 would of bored the hell out of me.

Not sure I will ever recover from losing to Young Ram playing as Brighton, scared me for life that as. Managed 1 win (which I'm sure he went easy on me) and 2 draws from around 10 games.

Would of won another if he didn't hack me down in the last minute 1 on 1 with the keeper. I thought Rynny was dirty, nothing on YR whos every tackle is a slide tackle.

I have only lost 2 out of my last 6 but had a horrible run earlier couldn't buy a win after i played daveo 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

Well... trying to pretend that match with Leicester just didn't happen I started my second season in manager mode, which is much better than in previous years. Firstly, why is it better:

- AI clubs actually try to sign players

- Some kind of interaction (although very basic) with the players

- Young players actually develop

- General improvements to transfers

- You can send out the same team more than once in a week without them being completely buggered

So, I got promoted with Davies scoring 37 goals (!!!), before getting a brutal injury right at the business end of the season. I signed Eikrem and Commons (why not?) to strengthen my attack. I decided to stick with Davies up front, but only because I lack any funds to get another striker. I lost both Hendrick and O'Brien, Hendrick because he "couldn't settle at his new club (Derby, he came through the youth side?)", whilst O'Brien decided that we were under performing before a ball was kicked and declared that he was leaving for free, so I sold him. I ended up with a lineup:

GK: Fielding 73

DR: Brayford 73

DC: Barker 73

DC: Shackell 72

DC: Wojtkowiak 73

DMC: Richarlyson 74

MC: Eikrem 77

MC: Bryson 74

RW: Commons 77

LW: Drage 74

ST: Davies 72

Fielding, Davies, Brayford and especially Bryson all improved dramatically over the course of the season. Good fun. Of course I got Tottenham up first, and went 2-0 down within 10 minute. I got a late goal to make it 2-1, but a poor start. Then Fulham, Commons' "debut". Went 2-0 down in 10 minutes again, but recovered with Drage scoring and Commons setting two up for Davies to make it 3-2 before the 30th minute. Of course they equalised immediately. But Eikrem, Bryson and finally Richarlyson all got in on the scoring to win it 6-3... Highest scoring game I've seen on FIFA in a long time, my previous highest on FIFA 12 so far was 4-2. Fun game, defending is very unforgiving though, especially against Premier League sides.

Is it cheating and boring to be Barcelona?

Started of on World Class, got thrashed.

Went on proffesional and began to get draws. Then started winning scoring 3 or 4.

Now i've restarted a career on World Class and i'm fairly comfortable. Beat Real Madrid in the Cup. and W2 D1 of my opening games.

I've learned to restrict the AI's forward passes and with 3 men in midfield they struggle to creat any close range efforts. Although Ronaldo turned Pique inside out slotted past Valdes. But i don't mind that. It's Ronaldo. I later clattered him for a yellow card and lots of satisfaction.

Can spend a lot of time without the ball. So when i have it i hold onto it until i can work a decent pass or run with Messi (who is often untouchable)

Just seem to spend a lot of time holding A. If i get drawn to far out of position i retreat and let them come again. Eventually they give it away (you can alter the pass consistency for the AI in the settings if you want to make them more or less error prone?) or you can get a player close enough to tackle. Just have to be patient and hold your ground. Their passes become quite predictable and so you can block the routes.

Had to play on Professional though to get the basic hang of it.

Maybe being Barca makes it too easy?

My problem has been scoring penalties. The keeper always dives the right way. Oh, and Alexis Sanchez broke his ankle in a friendly. 3 months!! I don't fancy being Derby. They do my head in enough. I like to experience the world class side of football.

Agreed. I like the whole transfer system now. Pato to Chelsea for £50m. Sneijder to Citeh for £38m. My own was Hulk to Barcelona for £30m..... and he's on the bench.

Any tips on penalties? I think i hit them too soft? My conversion rate must be like 60:40. Proper rubbish lol

The way I hit penalties is normally:

- Power the shot to about 1/3 to half way

- Once the player is moving hit a direction and hold it

Essentially if done right that basically will put the ball on one side or the other pretty well with a bit of power. Try practising in the arena for a bit.

As for free kicks, just dribbling at defenders every once and a while, they'll eventually foul right in front. Not really worth it though, freekicks are quite hard.

Also, I just remembered my "goal of the season" last season. It went to Tyson, his 3rd goal of the season in the second to last game, the title winning goal! Got a corner, Ward just knocked one in, nothing too interesting and Tyson just gives it the old overhead bicycle kick into the top corner.

online is going from bad to worse, after only losing 2 in 6 now lost 2 on the bounce, the match up system is ridiculous, half the time i get a team which has the same colour strip on 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />, my defense is shocking, i am not too much of a fan of the new defensive system.

had an amazing time online last night 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> my ultimate teams going from strength to strength! really love our players this year (especially tyson,even though i cant afford him yet) My Theo and S.Davies have scored 35 goals between them all ready and bryon's scored some crackers. Ben D's free kicks are great ofc but kilbanes are surprisingly good as well. really like the new gameplay and found out it benefits my style of play 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> shackell and barker are solid at the back and ive scored some wonder goals with brayford. Might try a career mode now, because from what youve said it sounds much improved.

in last years fifa i got davies up to a 78 striker and he scored a hat-trick against man utd in the champions league final 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> my paul green got up to 77 as well but i dont see that happening this year :/ is he even in the game?
