So with the retained list being announced I make the current squad under contract for next season to be;

GK - Vickers

LB - Elder

LB - Forsyth

CB - Nelson

CB - Cashin

CB - Rooney

CB - Bradley

RB - Nyambe

RB - Wilson (or RWB)

RWB - Ward

CM - Thompson

CM - Fornah

WF - Blackett-Taylor

WF - Barkhuizen

WF - Mendez-Laing

CF - Washington

 

With potentially Sibley and Collins to add in. So we’ll need, what… 2 or 3 strikers, another wide forward, 2 or 3 or even 4 midfielders, another cb, another lb/lwb and a couple of keepers?

We need one or two goalkeepers, if Vickers leaves, maybe even three. 

Formation depending: a centre back and a left back/left wing back. 

There’s five.

replace: Smith, Hourihane, Ebou, Bird in centre mid. That’s four more.

that’s nine. 

a winger, potentially. Albeit that would be in addition to what we have now.

then replace: Waghorn, Gayle and TJJ. Potentially Collins. Three or four strikers.

12-14 players.

I'll assume Sibley and Collins agree contracts. Rooney and DRobinson to be loaned out.

GK (1 or 2), CB, CM (4), Attackers (3, W/AM/CF).

10 total, plus replacing any others who leave

Quality prem loans don’t tend to get sorted until later in August so I would not expect all the gaps filled before then.

Just by removing those released, the squad feels significantly younger already 👍

I'm not sure I can cope with the inevitable melt down on this forum if we have to wait until August let alone "later August". 😀
