I'll add a further recollection: one of Simmo's was from close range and he ended up (standing) in the net. (I actually thought he got a pen too but apparently not from the info above).

WBA had made a comeback... possibly from 4-1 down to 4-3 before Simmo clinched it? I think it was actually 1-1 at one point too.

I think one of Simmo's goals was a free kick which was bent round the wall into the bottom corner into the Normo end goal.

i was in the Ossie end and directly in line from where he was taking it.

it must have curled about 5 yards to miss the wall and end up where it did.

I think both of us might have merged some other memories into this one!

I think your Simmo free-kick is the second goal of his hat-trick against Portsmouth the following season - what do you think?

Pretty sure the scoring went:

1-0 Daly

2-0 Duncan

3-0 Emery

Second half

3-1 Penalty Robertson?

4-1 Duncan

Popside that day for me

Could well have done. Unfortunately the historical websites for some of the older games are a bit lacking in detail

1993 perhaps

Yes it was the first game of the 93-94 season. It sold out before KO and I only got in because my uncle lent me his season ticket and went home. We were unstoppable. At half-time they played “There must be an angel” by Eurythmics very loud (or I was close to a speaker on the Popside) and the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. We dreamed of a win at the City Ground next up… and clung on for a fortunate 1-1 draw!

But… @admira said today’s game finished 5-3, so it was WBA at home! 😉

Ah. I thought the opposition's goals were included in the list.

It's the year that catches me out every time.

It's Fulham at home... 2018?
