AndyinLiverpool
After the fifth goal, one particularly frustrated mackem climbed out of the away pen, ran across the pitch and threw his red and white shirt in Terry Butcher's face. We were bound to get promoted that season...

(I actually thought he got a pen too but apparently not from the info above). WBA had made a comeback... possibly from 4-1 down to 4-3 before Simmo clinched it? I think it was actually 1-1 at one point too. I think one of Simmo's goals was a free kick which was bent round the wall into the bottom corner into the Normo end goal. i was in the Ossie end and directly in line from where he was taking it. it must have curled about 5 yards to miss the wall and end up where it did. I think your Simmo free-kick is the second goal of his hat-trick against Portsmouth the following season - what do you think?

Yes you're right I am getting old and senile 😃 What we'd give for Simmo right now. Edited August 16, 2023 by I DONT MIND

It sold out before KO and I only got in because my uncle lent me his season ticket and went home. We were unstoppable. At half-time they played “There must be an angel” by Eurythmics very loud (or I was close to a speaker on the Popside) and the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. We dreamed of a win at the City Ground next up… and clung on for a fortunate 1-1 draw! But… @admira said today’s game finished 5-3, so it was WBA at home! 😉

I thought the opposition's goals were included in the list.

Seem to remember Rory scoring and being sent off. Burley missing a pen that would have been a hat trick and Dean Saunders scoring for them ? admira
