Topram
So far this summer we have spent very well and very little compared to last few seasons, I was just wondering with how cheap Davies and Huddlestones clauses were. what would you think we'd of payed for them with out a buy out clause? Cam the Ram
Without the clauses I'm not sure we'd have gone for them, because Gary seems interested in getting players who can increase their value whilst with us. But at a guess, without their clauses I reckon Davies could have been somewhere around the £2-3 million mark, similar to Shackell when we signed him and Huddlestone probably nearer £5 million. Edinburgh ram
I'd say 6 million altogether do to the amount teams have been able to do us over the past few years
Gritstone Ram
This is the kind of business I like to see. The problem comes if we don't get young good players coming through to either take there places or sell for a profit (Hughes, Hendrick ) Then you need someone with money. Unless we get promoted. Sparkle
Much happier having a 30 yrs old Huddlestone rather than a 33 yr old Whelan! All Rowetts signings have been very sensible and on paper very good value mind you he took shotton of us for a very cheap price for Brum when he was worth much more. Rab a dab doo
GR has a very prudent outlook when dealing with finances. I think this orginates from his time at Burton and Brum where there wasn't much cash. It good trait to have because your always looking for value for money. I do however think if the right player becomes available who he really wants he won't be scared to splash the cash A very interesting summer still ahead.
