That link between DEF and MID....

We miss it so so much.

It's a shame NP is as stubborn as MM because it would have been sorted in the summer if it was anyone else.

Can't imagine DW not playing without a holding midfielder if he was still deployed as "head coach"..

Varney's goal, a long with others, just proves the lack of closing down when players are closing in on our area.

It's a shame, a real shame.

Is it? Time and again we see Bryson and Hughes basically become a third center back to pick up the ball off the toes of the two CB's. The CB's should be bringing the ball forward. It's painful to watch and Bryson looks like a needy child when he stands 5 yards away from them begging for the ball, facing them.

Rubbish, the "link" is missing when the defence is failing to push up and play a high line.

Last night there was no missing "link" at all as Pearce replaced Shackell.

The missing element was actually putting the ball in the net, the overall play was good.

We're so desperately crying out for a Thorne cover, I can't believe this wasn't sorted 2 years ago, never mind this summer. It's absolutely the key role within our team, no matter the formation- we need a defensively minded player to win the ball and begin attacks, exactly what Thorne does so brilliantly. I hope he's back soon we're desperate for his vision in the team

We don't need a CDM. Lets support the lads and get behind the new system. the old one failed.

How many successful systems, two midfielders or three, don't have a defensive midfielder? Surman and Arter. Marney/Barton and Jones. Barry and Toure. Drinkwater and Kante.

The only way it will work is if they manage to build an understanding and act like pistons like Viera and Petit.

We'll be alright.

Gorgeous George will be fit by November, then he's got all of December to prove his fitness.

Then we'll flog him in January, and buy a less talented but more athletic fella to run around instead.

After we've rinsed and repeated this for another few transfer windows, we will be the envy of lesser middle distance nations come Tokyo.

The secret is in the scouting.

We should despatch our lot to Kenya and Ethiopia.
