My Team for Preston

The only player not still here is Eustace.

that team with Baird in place of Eustace and Dawkins in the Hughes role and Ince in the Dawkins position could still take the field against Preston.

He's a free agent, that would be my next signing. He knows this league more than anybody, and should have been made club captain.

Dawkins is every bit as good as Ince? Now, I know there's a lot of love for Dawkins on this forum, but calm down a bit

Come on, what has Ince done? Just like Baird though, he won't get dropped.

Who would you have taken off yesterday, Ince or Russell?

What has Ince done? Came in and scored 11 goals in 18 games. Yes he's had a slow start to this season, but other than Russell, Thorne and Keogh so has everybody

So why does Ince playing poorly yesterday show Dawkins is better than him?

Ince has played bad all this season and should be dropped for a game just like most other players have, you know that and so does everybody else.

I had asked what makes Dawkins as good as Ince but I suppose you don't wish to answer that then

Drop him for Weimann who has also played poorly? Or drop him for Dawkins who everyone now agrees is better in the centre because he never performed consistently on the wing?

He keeps the ball quite well and can distribute the ball better than Ince. I believe last season we spoke how he gave the ball away the least amount of times out of all the players we had at the time.

Weimann deserves a chance to start for a couple of games surely. We saw he can do it against Villareal.

He would do a very good backup job, like the last 25 minutes yesterday. Like for Like.

I moaned about this incessantly over the summer. Our transfer policy has been utterly clueless. We established last season just how vital a specialist defensive midfielder is to us. So let's take a look at what we did to strengthen the position.

Eustace - released

Mascarell - returned to parent club

Signed Baird, a defender who has covered in midfield much earlier in his career during an injury crises at Fulham.

Add to this the fact that we know Thorne is injury prone, why did we think it was a good idea to leave absolutely no cover for him in the squad?

I'm all for Dawkins starting (at CM, not on the wing) but I just can't agree with the comment suggesting he's as good as, or better than Ince. Him being able to retain the ball well doesn't make him better.

And as for Weimann, he got the chance against Pompey and was poor. If he were to get a start I'd hope it would be in a more central position rather than out wide

Two up front? Have you learned nothing from this season? We'd get overrun in midfield.

Gromit is a luxury player. That team is crying out for Terry Nutkins to play behind Wallace and control possession.

Can we get back into the habit of never, ever giving a player a second chance and writing them off once they have put in a sub-par performance or two?

Oh, we have. Carry on, then.
