Motown is still great.

I recently bought the first six volumes of Chartbusters (EBay of course)

It never ages, neither does soul music.

Best Motown song?

"What becomes of the broken-hearted ?" Jimmy Ruffin. Or any of 100 others.

put me on the spot with that question, and it'll probably change daily.

I like "It's a shame" by the Detroit Spinners a lot.

The programme was first shown last year and the cd is available from all good "record shops".

Sure bought back a few memories, the Blue Orchid, Friary Hotel, Hardinge Arms, Cleos on a Friday night.

For what it's worth here's my top ten (for today anyway)

1 Brenda Holloway - Just Look What You've Done
2 Barbara Randolph - I've Got a Feeling
3 Smokey Robinson - I Gotta Dance to Keep From Crying
4 Junior Walker - I Ain't Going Nowhere
5 The Four Tops - I'm in a Different World
6 The Originals - Suspicion
7 David Ruffin - My Whole World Ended
8 Bobby Taylor - Oh I've Been Blessed
9 Marv Johnson - I Miss You Baby
10 Edwin Starr - War

...................all available on that Youtbe thingy!

Right, off the top of my head, in no particular order of preference, the songs that change my mood.

- Detroit Spinners - It's a Shame

- The Originals - Baby I'm for real

- The Velvellettes - Needle in a Haystack

- Marvin Gaye - I Want You

- Jimmy Ruffin - (I'm gonna give her) all of my loving

-Edwin Starr - 25 miles

-Isley Brothers - Behind the Painted Smile

- Martha and the Vandellas - My guy

- Jackie Wilson - I get the sweetest feeling (Tamla?)

- JR Walker and all stars - I'm a roadrunner.

Ask me tomorrow, I'll probably pick a different 10!!

I get the sweetest feeling is a great song I was born in 1987 I thank my mum for blaring out old school dance sisters for RNB and my dad for the northern soul. I can honestly say I'm not naive torwards any of it even linkin park etc I can listen to. Hearing them titles you've mentioned and recognising some of them, makes me want to listen to them now!

What you mean as in Alvaston? I was from Chaddesden till a few months ago. My Dads lived in Alvaston for years.

He's originally a Ossie park road lad though and him and his brothers were and still are really into the Northern scene. We used to meet at their house and practice the dancing and listen to records. John was always the better dancer.
