King Kevin
Did'nt appreciate how good Freddie Mercury was until he was gone.Really came home to me when George Michael stood in for him at Wembley .Best singer and best voice two different things. Scott Walker had a great voice imo, but not in the class of those mentioned above as a singing talent.

eddie
Barbara Streisand, good shout. She's great. As are Elvis and Frank Sinatra. Who iyo, did the best version of My Way? I'm going for Elvis. Sex Pistols
AndyinLiverpool
I wouldn't claim any of these to be the 'best' but they are my favourites: Peter Hammill Kate Bush Muddy Waters
eddie
Freddie Mercury surely the best male? I've never heard a vocal range like his. It had everything from in yer face rock to the sweetest melodies, to opera. Unique, imposing and gentle all at the same time, still sadly missed. The ladies, now there's a tough choice, I loved Whitney Houston, she had an awesome, powerful and beautiful voice. Beyonce? Not a patch on her I'm afraid. And then there's the pureness of Eva Cassidy, I can't listen to her songs without wanting to cry, just from the emotion her voice portrays. Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Fields of Gold are simple, just her and her guitar, but beautiful regardless. What a shame they both died young. You have never heard Thijs van Leer then (and I loved Freddy Mercury). Also, I mentioned Sandy Denny earlier in the thread
Rev
Sex Pistols Sorry eddie, that was Sid on his own, normally I'd let it slide, but I know you're a stickler for facts;-)
eddie
Sorry eddie, that was Sid on his own, normally I'd let it slide, but I know you're a stickler for facts;-) I'll hold my hand up and say that I did not know that. I also thought that it was manufactured *****, that Sid Vicious was crap and that The Sex Pistols were no more and no less than a talentless vehicle to propel equally talentless self-publicist Malcolm McLaren to fame. AshfieldRam
Adele needs more praise! She is quality, as is Sam Smith, new upcoming artist. The main greats were before my lifetime. Would of loved to have seen Freddy Mercury, Elvis and the Beatles. These would be my top 5 My top 5 males (only doing people I've seen live) Brandon Flowers (The Killers) Bruno Mars Jake Bugg Jeremy McKinnon (A day to remember) Ed Sheeran Best Females (that I've seen) Ellie Goulding Florence Walsh (Florence and the machine) Hayley Williams (Paramore) Paloma Faith Jessie J
Cisse
Jackie Wilson would have probably been my number six.

God Save the Queen Anarchy in the Uk Pretty Vacant Are the three ultimate punk classics. However........ The Sex Pistols lost something essential when Capt Sensible said Johnny Rotten sounded like old man Steptoe. I was never able to listen without laughing after that.
