To be fair, there is no evidence to prove he is 42 as some have claimed, but he has official documents that say he is 17.

If Taribo West could be allowed to get away with it, let see what this guy does. He'll be expected to hit his prime in about 10 years so if he is still around in the game by then, we'll see if he runs like a 52 year old.

Physical tests proved he was 17

To my knowledge the best you can do is check their growth plates (usually by MRI) and that will only tell you so much. To be honest though those tests are enough to at least confirm he's not in his 40s, and make pretty certain that he's still quite young (i.e under 20) and recent studies have shown that by MRI and a standard rating you can to some extent guess age in the range 14-19 using such methods. In this case if such tests were done and he passed, then it was likely that it was demonstrated that he was around the age suggested.

Sadly though age fraud is a problem in football at the moment and we'll likely see more rumours fly around, although they are hardly new. There were once rumours that Obafemi Martins was in fact 7 years older than he claimed, and it would have made him about 36 now.

In any case, this kid:

Some people can just look older, especially to some people. I wouldn't look at him and think "oh year, that lad's 41!". Sadly such rumours, particularly for a talented young African player will occur. In any case though, here's a picture where he looks distinctly more like a teenager:

The fontanella doesn't fuse with your skull until your late teens/early twenties, measuring its comparative thickness is the standard way of roughly determining age. Amazing what you can learn from CSI!

Here's just a thought.. Maybe he can play either wing.. Cover for Cyrus with freeman leaving.. Ooooorrrrrr he's our new right back and Cyrus as cover.. Players can adapt with the right coaching, and we have that. It's just a thought.
