He's a catholic from Derry. What possible reason would he have for respecting British armed forces?

He's playing for a club in the country in which British armed forces are based. Respect?

AndyinLiverpool
I don't wear a poppy either. Perhaps I should go elsewhere. Or perhaps those who want to turn an act of donation to an armed forces charity into a stick to beat outsiders could just shut up.

Ramarena
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2276476/Sunderlands-James-McClean-defends-decision-wear-poppy.html Do we really want someone at the club who doesn't respect our armed forces? Seriously? He's Irish for a start and comes from the village involved in Bloody sunday massacre, I respect his right not to wear the poppy given his background. According to the report he also auctioned off his shirt for a kids charity, so I think that's fair enough. As a player he could be worth it if he can rediscover his old form and get his head right. Wardy struggles to last the 90mins on a regular basis these days without his hamstrings being prone to giving way.

Ram a lamb a ding dong
Still can thinl of a million better players than him i would like to bring in. Remnds me of a poor mans Downing, one trick money, looses the ball easily, ungainly, cant get the ball ff the ground. He is quick but thats your lot

InigosLeftPeg
McClaren must see something in him else we wouldn't be bidding for him. He'll know the Irish lads and I think he'll be good - but I like Wardy too! Let's not forget he was at asunder lands and then taken in on loan for Everton
May Contain Nuts
I'd have said poor man's Milner rather than Downing. And I've never rated Milner. There's room for my opinion to change if we sign him of course...
