Well known people who have walked past you in the street.

When I lived in London in the 70's I played in a large (amateur) orchestra which specialised in Opera. Met loads of singers from Covent Garden and the like. The most famous I suppose was Kiri te Kanawa. The biggest was Rita Hunter, by about 6 dress sizes. Also played under Sir Adrian Boult and Sir Simon Rattle a couple of times.

I got talking to a conductor recently. We were chatting about football initially and then he mentioned that he did a bit of conducting so I bent his ear with my thoughts on classical music. When I found out his name and looked at his wiki entry I couldn't stop laughing at my folly. I can't even read music and I had been lecturing to a man who had conducted all the top orchestras in the country and who has had his own show on the radio for many years.

If it's solely 'walked past' then I once walked past Phil Jupitus and Stewart Lee in about 2007... I was in Edinburgh for the festival so hardly a surprise. Walked past Johnny Russel in Westfield at the start of the season.

Stood next to Greg Davies (the tall comedian) a few months back at a gig at the 12 Bar in London (tiny venue)

A few years ago Stephen Pearson was in M&S Kingsway (after promotion) pretending to be on his phone so that nobody would bother him.

Met 'The Rev' (Towers Of London guitarist) a couple of weeks ago, big mates with Noel Fielding.

I don't like to impose on people, would never dream of asking for photos / autographs etc - just let them get on with their business.

I haven't been on a bus in ages.

I've sort of met George Osborne.

He came into work about 2 years ago. You wouldn't believe the security operation that went on for his visit, quite ridiculous.

Anyway, our eyes met and I smiled to be polite, but he just looked away.

Posh sausaget.

Not really a street but I was sat in the North lower when the Queen came to open Pride Park, as they drove past she winked and stuck the tip of her tongue out at me. If she wasn't so old I would have gone for it.

I knew an old girlfriend of Brown's. She was too much of a lady to tell me much, but I just got the impression that he is more than a bit odd. I can second the comment about Madam Currie.

Archie Gemmill, John McGovern and Roger Davies all looked carefully at me when they walked past me. This was when they were still playing. I would have loved to have stopped and talked to them but in those days I didn't think it was a cool thing to show any signs of hero worship.

David Soul didn't look at me as he passed, but I had already noticed that some other people near me had clocked him and I suppose he just wanted to be anonymous.7

Roy Hattersley gave me a very careful look. So much so that I was of the impression that he was going to stop and talk to me. Perhaps he thought he knew me. This was when he was Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.

Count yourself lucky - you could have got a right soaking!

Had to reserve a parking space for Ed Balls a few years back. Well, I had to stick a sign up.

Turned up in an armored car with blacked out windows and a couple of guards - total overkill.

He had a walk around the office, a quick meeting and then ****** off.

Done jobs for tv companies in the past and spoke to a few famous people, Some were down to earth and would chat, Others ignored or just looked down on us.

We put a marquee up for Boon and had to pull it up as Boon and Harry walked through it.

Michael Elphick and David Daker (Harry) were sound. Lionel Jeffries was making a guest appearance and was the total opposite.

Did a job for some advertising company at Thames tv studios where they filmed Londons burning and went to the pub around the corner at dinner, Most of the cast were in there and were a good bunch and happy to chat and have a pint.

Also did a job at Edwina Curries house, What a ****. Happy to talk to the owner of the company but no time for us oiks.
