Dcfc111
It has been alleged by Premier Sports Managements that Dundee United owe them £70,000 for the sale of Johnny Russel and are taking them to court. Two things that intrigue me with this are: Has this money potentially been stolen from Dcfc? Isn't it ironic that an agent is being screwed by a club for once! What intrigues me is why a club would agree to pay an agent 10% of the fee for selling a player.
eddie
What intrigues me is why a club would agree to pay an agent 10% of the fee for selling a player. Facilitating the sale when the selling club initiated the transfer.

AndyinLiverpool
All agents should be banned, it just takes money out of football Football has never been especially good at retaining money. Players and agents these days; in the 20s, 30s and 50s, massive crowds flocked to football yet players were on a maximum wage and there were tiny squads. Where did that money go? Certainly not on facilities. The history of football is the history of men on the take.

CornwallRam
Presumably the details of the transfer will come out in court. For once we will actually know what 'undisclosed fee' actually meant.
uttoxram75
There's a book called Broken Dreams by Tom Bower that investigates football agents. Its a bit dated now as its about 10 years old but it explains how agents manipulate situations by taking cuts from both clubs AND the player in one deal, often with collusion from managers. Harry features quite a lot in it, surprisingly.

eddie
Maybe his eyes were too close together? The stripey jumper and the bag marked 'SWAG' were a bit of a giveaway. Grimbeard
I don't understand. If a player employs an agent to look after his financial affairs, then surely the player should pay the agent.
Stive Pesley
As a general rule of thumb – anyone who has "agent" in their job title is a wrong'un and not to be trusted Football Agent Estate Agent Recruitment Agent etc
