Ronald Denis Pountain aka Denny Denis was from Derby.

Denny took over from Sinatra as the singer with the great Tommy Dorsey big band in the 1940s. Nick named the " English Bing Crosby"

The Debonaires who won the national dance band championship 6 times ( the Brits of its day) were also from Derby.
