Livened up my pre-match drinking today with a pint of Thornbridge's Jaipur. Lovely.

Pre-match drinking? There's two weeks to next game!!!

:p

Ps. I'm tasting some German beer today. Weltenburger Kloster's Asam Bock and Benediktinerabtei Plankstetten Dunkles.

At least latter has lovely name.

nice pint, tends to be a little cloudy and can put people off, but still a good strong ale.

Agreed that it puts some people off, but it's their loss.

I can never understand why ignorant people cannot get it into their thick skulls that a hoppy IPA in particular can have a 'hop haze' from the alpha acids, that many of the better lagers can have a 'chill haze' brought about by the precipitation of proteins at reduced temperatures, that witbiers and weißbiers are naturally cloudy from the wheat proteins, that hefe beers are so called because they have yeast in suspension, that bottle-conditioned beers always have a yeast layer in the bottom etc etc.

They are both good beers. Work well with food too.

Aye. I didn't even look at it tbh, just drank it.

Took a while for the barmaid to pour though, just head, head and more head (she was a busy girl) (about 3 pints worth) then finally some beer - I don't know if that means it was a new cask or something, but whatever, it was extraordinarily good.

Alcohol shop near the top of the main street in Belper sells in in mini kegs which you can dispense straight from. And they also do a subscription type thing where you can get them delivered to your house. Also do other Thornbridge beers like this, other than just the Jaipur.

http://www.parentherald.com/articles/2951/20131113/non-alcoholic-healthy-drink-tastes-alcohol-sold-market-two-years.htm

A non-alcoholic drink that tastes like alcohol but is said to be healthy may be introduced in the market two years from now, according to the Daily Mail. The said beverage is expected to produce the same 'happy, fuzzy' feeling of alcohol but drinkers will be able to sober themselves up as it has a very different effect. Although the product seems too good to be true, a controversial drug expert says that 'healthy alcohol' may very well be introduced in the market in the next couple of years if someone will fund his research into it.

Professor David Nutt, a former chief drugs advisor who was fired from his post in 2009 after claiming that cannabis, ecstasy and LSD are less harmful than alcohol and cigarettes now said that is should be possible to become drunk without becoming ill as long as antidote pills are taken. People are supposed to take a drink that produces the happy and fuzzy feeling alcohol and once they have had enough they would take an antidote pill that instantly sobers them up.

However, Professor Nutt of the Imperial College London expresses that there is a possibility for this new drink to be unpopular among the multi-billion drinks industry and it is also not certain that people will embrace the product once introduced. Critics are also questioning whether people, especially motorists will remember to take the antidote pill that can help prevent feelings of drunkenness. The new drink will not contain any booze so it wouldn't be harmful for the heart, liver, stomach and other body parts that alcohol typically rots. The drink can also be tweaked chemically depending on how the drinker wants it to taste.
