Albert
A leftback at a Championship club eh? I would expect that any player signed would be with a view to buy, and I would expect them to not be in their 30s in such a case, that is, if they are seen as a potential replacement for Roberts. The Championship is hardly full of young hungry leftbacks now is it? I guess that should make the shortlist of likely choices quite small. Throw in players who are unlikely to be let out on loan and the list is quite small. I'd also only expect us to be going for a natural leftback, rather than someone who can just play there. Just a quick look over the squad lists for the clubs at the moment, taking into account only their appearances this season rather than any real knowledge of their situation, I came up with this list: Matthew Parsons - Palace Danny Lafferty - Burnley Scott Malone - Millwall, more of a winger, maybe injured Bob Harris - Blackpool Cedric Evina - Charlton Adam Blakeman - Bolton Joe Mattock - Wednesday Tom Kennedy - Barnsley Greg Cunningham - Bristol City Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, it's just a list of the players who might be options... There's also: Adam Drury - Leeds, 34 years old There's always Aidan White, we've been linked with him before and Leeds have signed Stephen Warnock haven't they. I wouldn't rate him as likely though. Honestly though, I have no idea whatsoever who it might be. Without knowing much about him or his situation, if I had to guess, it would be Danny Lafferty from Burnley. 23 years old, has played some games but not that many, good age... I don't know, it's all guess work.
davenportram
Got me thinking about left backs we've had in the past remember Nicky Hunt - currently at Accrington on loan from Rotherham From premier league to league 2 in what 2 years - its hard being a,left back
Albert
Nicky Hunt was, and still is, a rightback.

Out of all of those stated, I'd really only be happy with Aiden White and perhaps Joe Mattock.

Scott129
It'll be Aidy White or Joe Mattock. White we were interested in before and Mattock's out of favour at Wednesday. Both are young and I'd be happy with either to be honest.

cheron85
Someone's already mentioned Marcos Painter right? Championship experience, 2nd choice at Brighton, 26 years old, and I think out of contract at the end of the season...
Albert
Thanks Albert for researching that, how many of them are out of contract in the summer? Matthew Parsons - Palace Danny Lafferty - Burnley Cedric Evina - Charlton Tom Kennedy - Barnsley I wouldn't think too much about the length of contracts though. If they are to join with a view to a permanent move the length of their contract isn't going to stop that, although a player coming off contract might be cheaper. They can't sign a precontract deal in any cases until after the season is over even if they are off contract and the previous time we signed players in this manner (Ward, Fielding, Robinson) they were all for a fee and all still on contract. Someone's already mentioned Marcos Painter right? Championship experience, 2nd choice at Brighton, 26 years old, and I think out of contract at the end of the season... Missed him apparently. Our loan deal would have to include a recall incase wayne bridge got injured. Apparently a good passer, great attitude and sound defensively. feris bueller day off
I liked Stoor, purely because he was foreign. To be fair we have had some pretty ropey loanees in the past (present company excepted Messrs Ward, Fielding and Robinson natch) but I thought Freddie Stoor was pretty decent. [url=http://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/article/looking-to-loan-656663.aspx]http://www.dcfc.co.u...oan-656663.aspx “We’ve done that for the majority of the season and we’ve set our stall out this year to give people a chance from the group we have, but Gareth’s position is more of a specialist one and that’s why we’re looking at bringing in a left-back on loan with a bit of experience. So I still stick with Painter. He could cover centrebacks too, is cheap, not in first team and equipped with good workrate. If he were bald, I guess he would've been signed already...
