Sorry, pressed enter by mistake, will try again....Just wanted some advice really, was coming home from Christmas away on Thursday driving along the dual carriageway approaching Junction 29 of the M1 from Chesterfield - anyhow this youth in a black Golf GTI decided that he wants to cut the line of traffic up in the fast lane (jncluding myself) by undertaking everyone, however I sped up meaning that he didnt have enough room to pull out infront of me without hitting the car infront of him

This I could tell vexed him greviously as when we got to the M1 roundabout he pulled infront of my (heaven knows how I didnt hit him) leapt out of his car and starting punching and kicking my drivers side window. I managed to reverse and drive off before he could do any damage, nearly smashing into another car in my haste to escape then had the guy leap back into his car and follow me for 3 junctions down the M1 up my rear end. All very silly.

Anyhow, have got all of his car details etc. not sure whether to report it to the police or just put it down as experience as police won't bother progressing it if it's my word against his. Any suggestions?

I'd report him, let the police deal with it and hopefully it will stop him doing the same thing again and risk causing another accident where innocents could be hurt.

Yet another example of someone who shouldn't be allowed to drive.

To be perfectly honest notts, you should have reported him while he was intimidating you down those 3 junctions of the M1, got him nicked there and then, the police would have had to act if you said you felt in danger of being attacked whereas I'm not so sure you'll get a result in retrospect as it were.

That said, I think you should report him, you never know, he might get his collar felt.

I keep a baseball bat in my car for such an eventuality. It sits in the footwell of the rear passenger seat for easy access (driver's side). I've been a passenger (in my late teens) when a similar incident happened (again we were pursued afterwards - extremley dangerous), sadly its not entirely uncommon for these idiots to go to these lengths. He'd have f**king got it if he picked on my car, not violent at all but such lowlife only understand one thing.
