I would interpret it that the EFL have no clue if CK'c money will arrive or not but they want a resolution quickly because they have a league to organise and Derby need to prove funding to complete the fixtures.

I certainly think "Quantuma were placed under pressure by the EFL to recommend to creditors a settlement which was less than previously agreed" might be showing up in a future statement.

See my post below. Plus even if Ck does drop out I doubt Ashley will be the best bid.

CK has "paid" £1.6 m towards player wages, according to Nixon, or at least is on the hook for that sum. We also have an agreement on PPS which would wipe out the MSD loan. So I don't think it would take a very generous bidder for the club now to outbid Ashley if he is still making only low ball offers.

Good way of putting it. The EFl rules are completely distinct from the insolvency rules but they influence the behaviour of the buyers and admins at every turn. But I guess it’s no different in a number of other regulated sectors

Will take some time to agree a deal with someone else. More interest has accrued, Q’s costs have increased and another buyer might want another stadium deal. And we don’t have any time. Hope CK succeeds
(PS and another buyer might not want Rooney)

Problem is, costs are escalating all the time - CK’s deal was done some time ago.  And his deal rests on a particular lease of the stadium that suits his bp and may not suit others. And Rooney supports CK and will have agreed terms with him. And Rooney might not be on Mike Ashley’s Christmas card list. etcetc. So I don’t think it’s as simple as you say
a deal with another buyer might be apples and pears with CK’s deal

Agree when you say it’s still more than possible CK will sort out whatever the weird banking issue is. Hope he does

But if CK falls away and if there are no other generous bidders,  don’t you think Ashley will hit q with a ball that is so low it’s subterranean

Indeed.  And if there is nothing else going higher, and the axe is going to fall, they will accept - as you have the option of something you would otherwise not have had or a total loss.  Bury was different in that too few people cared to even low ball.  The point you need to hit is high enough that it is substantial but low enough to be derisory.
There is not a dichotomy of deal  or no deal.  Everything can move, but if CK competes it won't.  If he does not, everything - and I mean everything - is on the table.  MA is only ever going to be a last resort, as he will be brutal - take it or leave it, 10p if he's generous in the pound paid immediately or nothing.

    Ha. I like that. ?.

I suppose, yes. If all of a sudden CK didn’t complete the deal (although I imagine at this point he would likely find him self in some expensive legal trouble if he didn’t), then yes. Anyone could technically offer what they want. Doesn’t have to be accepted.

But to me the most likely scenario here: rich egotist (MA) is realizing he is about to lose out on buying a fantastic asset, that he thought he would be able to low ball for. So now he throws his toys out the pram and gets his PR team doing the turns.

I’d just like to see a deal get done. And CK is in the strongest position to do that right now.

The money may not have directly been paid into the club, but MM still put that money in to cover losses.
Iirc, MM didnt put a single penny into the club beyond that £80m from 2017 onwards. It would have covered cash losses in 17/18, 18/19 and most of 19/20. The debt started to build from around that point.
It ties in with the belief of MM first wanting out sometime in 2018, the decision to u-turn and appoint Lampard for the publicity and making one last push for promotion. £80m being all he was willing to put in until he could find someone to sell to. He was close at the end of 2019 and early 2020... until we were charged by the EFL for failing P&S.

All the press releases are hot air and bluster. Deal will be completed by 1pm tomorrow. CK will own the club.

Well we don’t know their motivations. What is clear is that EFl has no confidence in Q’s ability to conduct an M&A process and that their intention is to get involved in that process with the aim of ensuring we are sold and ready to compete next season
I don’t know why fans would not support their involvement

Agree - it’s far from clear who paid the May payroll. But what Nixon doesn’t recognise is that the funding probably involved a loan to q - ie a a high ranking claim in a liquidation (and MSD would most likely have supported the funding)
I think you’re unduly pessimistic in saying ck is/was paying too much - and I still think he might succeed. His offer (for the club only, with MM sharing some pain on the stadium and ?Clowes willing to share the risk/reward) is/was not crazy at all. MSD may well have agreed with him to write off some interest and I’d guess Q’s fee (under the ck deal) is set in stone despite the ongoing ‘work’. It’s all about potential and rightly or wrongly it seems ck’s assessment is that Rooney, Stretford and Cook can turn the football ship round. Valuing football clubs is an art not a science

Agree though that Ashley won’t match the ck deal. But that’s not because ck’s deal was foolish. It’s because Ashley only buys in the bargain basement
