I find it very odd how people almost go above and beyond to say a decision against us was so correct and we're just moaners. I happen, because of where I lived most of my adult life, to be a regular on a PL team's board - To a person, every single one of them that have commented has derided that decision.

I'm normally one to call out discussions that are mind numbingly binary but I'm not sure this is one of them - Generally it seems to me that there is a feeling that Warne has done okay given the circumstances. Some don't warm to the style or the person but with the lack of resources, the incredibly small squad he's done okay. On the other hand there are those that describe the season as a 'failure of epic proportions' those who bafflingly see anything from this season other than promotion is unacceptable.
For what it's worth, I'm an outlier on the positive side - Given the age, size and profile of the squad, playing 57 games - I think it's a fantastic effort. Our oppenents yesterday used 14 more players accross the season. Imagine if we'd been able to use 14 more players....

    We still have a club
We seem to have an owner who actually understands the commitment of owning a football club and the absolute importance of proper stewardship.
We have a manager whom wants to elevate this club to where it belongs
We have loyal supporters whom turn up thick and thin.
Some folks should remember all of this. Rather than carping and moaning like drains.

Exactly, EXACTLY - I don't know if it's just a refection on modern life that people are growing up so entitled they are completely unable to deal with adversity but it's quite something to see. Life doesn't always go your way, I suspect that some of the people describing the season as an 'epic failure' or that Clowes would be 'angry' about the season need to watch some self help vidoes.

I feel like you have let yourself down here. We’ve missed out on the play-offs by a point, not ten. Calling it a failure is sensationalism.
You’ve long been considered one of the most respected and most measured posters on the forum, but in recent months it seems you have abandoned that sense of balance and perspective previously held.
You’ve been on a singular mission to discredit the manager, diminish any good he has done and superimpose the bad, and to what end?
Warne will be back next season and as a club hopefully we’ll have learnt lessons and be wiser and stronger after this experience. The time to be heavy handed is this time next year if Warne hasn’t moved us forward.
Top two should be the aim.

    Exactly.
Didzy is prime example really. Scored a phenomenal number of goals. Had a great season. However, we would have been a better team if it wasn’t a necessity to play him every single game through the lack of any other option.
Fact is, others strengthened in January from a position of strength. Our cupboard was already bare and we couldn’t add to it to boot.
It’s the hand that we were dealt.
I think we probably should have hung onto the play offs, but in all honesty, I didn’t give us a prayer of Wembley let alone winning there anyway. So, let’s bow out now and get moving on the summer plans.

Thought experiment: imagine Warne is pushed or jumps ship over the summer after only a part season. That would leave us with one of the all-time 'what ifs', especially if his replacement struggles.
This demand for immediate results is exactly what got Derby in the s*** in the first place.
We need to hold our nerve and not sound like a load of little girls.

I think two words define this season: fine margins. Since February, we’ve fallen on the wrong side of them every time.
The players gave everything today and the performance was a creditable one. The game hinged on one mistake and sometimes in football that’s all it takes.
Some might deem this season a failure and the anti-Warne sentiment will no doubt be in overdrive over the coming days and weeks, but it’s needless.
Personally I don’t think at any point we’ve looked like one of the three best teams in the division, so I don’t think there should be much of a hangover if any at all. The signs have been there that it is simply one season too soon.
We just have to lick our wounds, regroup quickly, have a positive rebuild over the summer and go out and finish in the top two in 23-24.
Not going into the Championship with this group of players and under financial restrictions could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
I said this a few weeks ago and the sentiment remains - this is where Warne’s work really starts.

We came 7th with the joint least amount of players used in EFL history. Playoffs was two quality Jan signings away in reality.
