I suppose it could be argued that Steve Bloomer cost us £100 😂

When you look back at the history of Derby County it goes back through Derby Midland to Derby Town in 1864

It was Derby Midland who first played at the Baseball Ground and wore Black and White.

This is a very interesting article 👍

The wording was diplomatic. In truth Derby County completely absorbed its rival, covering the Midland’s £100 debt and taking all its players. Among the array of talent was an upcoming youngster named Steve Bloomer – no wonder one newspaper later described the takeover as the ‘football bargain of the century’. Derby Midland Football Club was dead after just ten years – slain by an imitator three years its junior. Derby County’s most crucial triumph...

    That’s a great story… I never new that..

Or they won’t care about the result next week, field a weakened side & then kick us all game, knowing full well we can’t field a weaken side & are happy to try & get our players injured or sent off for the playoff games.

Scary thought. Just get Joe squad player who you don’t care about to snap McGoldrick in half and take the red/ban.

I don't get this we are too tired. Only two months ago we were playing fast pressing football and beating Port Vale with two late goals. I know are squad is small and has a larger contingent of older players. Obviously I expected a bit of a blip, but not the dramatic fall off we've seen over the last two months.

In our purple patch we were mostly up against poor(er) teams. Not surprising to me at all that we are coming a bit short against the better ones.

Still all to play for. We are “only” needing to out perform Wycombe and Posh in the mini league until the end of the season.

  4. Met him this week in Q&A forum at Peacock Lounge in Allestree along with Gibo, Phil Gee and Kevin Wilson.

Absolute sound bloke, talked about 3 times as much as the others. Other insights:

Could not really remember specific goals, loved the 6 yard box ones.

Chose Derby over Arsenal as missus did not fancy London. Good lass.

Archie Gemmel was the best pro at Derby when he joined as has been an inspiration career wise.

All three had not much good to say about Arthur Cox.

Got the impression he quite liked working at Jet2 and did not seem bitter about his journey (other than when he did not get to re-sign due to Cox playing his options {Chasing Gabbiadini while telling Bobby he was about to sort it})
