How does having a new head of recruitment help when the club's restricted to free agents and loan deals until the end of next season.

Wildsmith - 8.5 MotM Stout performance; kept us in the game with 3 saves
Smith - 7 Playing out of position for the team & doing the job
Rooney - 6 Late substitution; I think he will have an impact this season.
Cashin - 7.5 Near flawless display but a mid-control allowed Liverpool in.
Forsyth - 7.0 Another sound centre-half showing
Roberts - 7.5 Strong with flair and an eye for a good pass
Sibley - 7 Strong showing; closed them down well
Bird - 6.5 Need more from Capt Bird & needs to take chances better
Mendez-Laing - 7.5 Did lots of defensive work
Knight - 6 late sub
Hourihane - 6 Needs to have more presence & impact
Osula - 6.5 worked hard
Dobbin - 6 Needs to improve his chance-taking ratio
Collins - 6 Worked hard for the team
McGoldrick - 7 Lively & could’ve scored with a header
Tommo - 6.0 Workmanlike late sub
FANS: 9Proud of the players and fans who sang throughout. 1 mark docked for the Collymore thing. Let it go.
Hm ... the linesman might beg to disagree after wildsmiths penalty performance ...

Assuming there's any truth in that.

Derby player ratings
GK: Joseph Wildsmith (9), RB: Korey Smith (7), CB: Eiran Cashin (8), CB: Craig Forsyth (8), LB: Haydon Roberts (7), RM: Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (7), CM: Max Bird (7), CM: Conor Hourihane (7), LM: Louie Sibley (7), ST: James Collins (6), ST: William Osula (6)
Subs: David McGoldrick (6), Lewis Dobbin (6), Liam Thompson (7), Jason Knight (N/A), Jake Rooney (N/A)

A shame that Collins and osula were taken off, maybe we would have won the penalty shoot out with them playing.
What if dobbin instead of osula had played from the start, a fit osula would have been an option for penalties.

Why is knight on the bench?
-
I doubt this is the right formation to win the game, sure its effective defensively, but isn't the objective for Derby to win the game.
Does it go to penalties if it remains goal less?

Derby County are interested in taking Cardiff City centre-back Curtis Nelson to Pride Park in January, according to this morning’s Patreon report from reporter Alan Nixon.
-
Adam Idah - much has been said, enough fans seem to think this one will not happen because we will be at the back of the pack when it comes to him - shame!
Trai Hume - would Sunderland do us a favour by loaning us, a right back.
Kaine Kesler-Hayden - I would like to see us sign a loan deal for this Aston villa wing back, but there is likely to be a que for his signature and unless we are in the play off positions come January?
Are we close to max number of loans we are able to sign?

Nope as he came through our academy
Am I mistaken that a couple of our younger players left the club for nothing in the summer?

We get compensation for him as long as we offer a contract on equal or greater terms than the current one
Doesn't he get to go for free under the bosman ruling.

Where is he going?
He's got 6 months left on the contract unless he signs a new deal.
How could club consider getting nothing for him in the summer, when his contract runs out.

Warne is saying that he would only improve the squad if he wanted to be here, not as a hostage.
I think it's clear that the decision lies with Bielik, BUT we do have a recall agreement. Fingers crossed he comes back.
Are we able to buy a 24 year old, 6ft 2ins, centre back/defensive midfielder, who's a good enough international player as to be going to the world Cup and who is regularly picking up man of the match in the Championship?!
That's better than what we currently have, especially as I predict knight leaving in January, which further weakens the team.
With knight leaving, I don't have to think hard, to see pw saying something similar to what he's said about bielik ie he doesn't want to try to keep the player and not get a fee, but also he might say something about knight not wanting to play for us.
Then much of midfielders that are left and we can't pay a transfer fee. The midfielders are left don't seem to fit into pw preferred formation. They were not his choice of player, they were what we needed to sign as a team to continue to exist because the league has rules on the minimum number of senior players a team has to field.
-
I only partly agree with pw assessment.
Bielik is better than most of the midfielders we signed in the summer. He would improve the squad.
He's good enough to be going to the world Cup. He's picked up several man of the match awards at Birmingham.

Yeah, I wondered if maybe that stance had changed slightly. I guess we won't know for sure until January.
I thought that the not allowed to pay a fee stance is until the end of next season?

Played right back for half a season at Swindon before moving to MK to play right midfield, played the playoffs for them at right back. 39 games, 2 goals and 3 assists. 28 full games out of 39. Only saw defeat twice in the league for MK, then once in the playoffs. Looks a good player just going off stats. Looking on YouTube, appears to be rather pacey, likes a trick or two. Was Swindon's young player of the season despite only being there for the first half of the season. I get a Jayden Bogle vibe off him, such a shame this would only be a loan.
Or we could with the exception of Hector, go old school ...

If we could sell Bielik...
Pw must strengthen the team in January, few options to do so, I'm confident that pw sees bielik as a strong addition to our team.
Especially if we lose knight, not that they play similar roles but bielik will improve the team, just look at his performances this season.
-
In January we will seek to improve the team not just bring in transfers for the sake of enlarging the size of the team.
Those signings will be loans or free agents, and we will face competition for those.
We could be a team that isn't in the play offs, so what will be the interest to players joining us, apart from the ability to pay a decent salary.
Many of our summer signings were the wrong side of 31 and are getting older and slower, as i predicted.
Loan players don't always work do brilliantly for the teams they play for, and most are at the start of their careers, with such players being on the fringe of the teams they come from.
We could lose players, with knight having 6 months left on his contract in January, it's likely we will try and get a fee for a player of his calibre.
Without a transfer budget, our January transfer window, might not look great.
Apart from attempting to rest some of our players, by signing extra players to fill reach our full allowance of senior players.
We should seek to only sign players that improve the team, and based on recent performances, I can see that's required.

after a game in which the pundits practically said it was an easy 3 points for Derby, and in which we missed 2 penalties, the morcambe manager wants to have sour grapes against the referee.

Horrific game, against the lowest side in the league
