Apparently it's Germans - the ball hit his hand in the last round and the ref choose not to award a penalty.

I've never seen the guy, so it's all second hand information from friends in the Netherlands, but he likes to receive the ball and run at his opponents. Very direct and will carry the ball upfield. They describe him almost like a midfield version of Wilson, not the best in terms of end product but very exciting and something we don't have anywhere else in the squad.
If we can get Ryan, too, then I'll be absolutely buzzing. He's a top keeper.

I think it’s a gamble worth taking, despite our recent record with overseas signings.
Of course we don’t know how he will adapt to the pace and the physicality of English football, but for £600,000, the potential pros outweigh the potential cons.
In a year, he could be going back to Holland on loan or he could be being lined up by Bournemouth for a £10 million transfer. It’s the chance you take.
If we wanted a similar player with a similar track record here (youth international, top flight experience, technically good), we would have to wait until they had run down their contract or their fee would likely run into the millions.
The domestic market here is so inflated that for £600,000 we are only likely (not always) to get a player with a good track record in League 1 or 2 or someone from a established club who has a modest record and is essentially unproven.
Is that any less of a gamble than looking abroad?

I was talking to some friends who are involved at Lincoln. They made it no secrets they're trying really hard to get that Taylor back from Luton. He wants first team football, doesn't seem he'll get it and Luton are prepared to sell. Said that's why they're having to sell others to make the money for him.
Despite him not having his shooting boots on against us, he scored 22 in 46 last season split half in half between league two and league one. Absolutely rapid and had Cashin on toast. He's only 21 too, I'd be all over him.

Yet you seem to have a real issue with us missing out on him, an issue that has developed over one weekend.
Your opening reaction to this link being "Now this is a bit more interesting than our signings so far. Obviously haven’t seen play, other than the one game against England"
Seems to me like you would be happy paying potentially over the odds, whatever it takes to get a signature from a bunch of foreigners that you've either never or barely seen play, because they are more "interesting", than signing proven players at this level like Osborn on a free.
So many bargains out there in Europe to be had that can turn you a profit ten fold after a season, however there are plenty of duds that will end up back to their countries after a year. Too many get excited by the mystery foreign name, trawling the internet for stats to justify the sexy name.
Personally, I find it a little hard to get upset over missing out on a player to Preston that I had never heard of prior to Saturday, I couldn't sit here and pretend to know if 600k or 6 million is a fair price for a player I've never seen or don't even remember playing once.
Let's be honest here, had we signed him, after one poor game no doubt you would be hammering him for being in the lineup at 2pm and how Warne is clueless picking out the worst player in Iceland.

    Here we go again.......
We signed two players who have been involved in promotion from the championship and by all accounts their signatures have been received with a lot of almost disappointment which is staggering.
Not to mention the fact that they have cost nothing!
It looks like we have missed out on a "key" target who ,until the news broke of our interest, NOT ONE Derby county fan had ever heard of .
Will say this until it's starts to register .....we have just achieved a promotion without spending a single fee .
Squad built with free transfers with a good smattering of academy players playing significant roles as well as loans.
If we are to be clever in our approach then the last thing we will do is get involved in bidding wars or ridiculous contracts.
Wildsmith and Sibley are testament to that.
Offered what the club felt were fair deals which they chose to turn down.
If this Norwegian lad becomes a superstar then all the nay sayers can point to yet "another Warne failure"
Until that happens, if it happens, let's have faith in the board and the strategy in place.
If we sign kenzo and he turns out to be a complete sack of fertiliser no doubt the axes will be out saying our recruitment is tosh.
Feels like the B stand wrist slashers are still alive and kicking.
There is a solid plan in place with new signings and it doesn't look as though we will not deviate from it.
The days of blowing vast sums of money are done thankfully.
The money coming from Kellyman will be spent wisely on top of whatever else we have in terms of budget and won't be thrown around like some kind of unforseen bonus that can be blown frivolously
As fans of our great historic club PLEASE sit tight and let this pre season play out in full.
Let the squad get built and the team tactics become more apparent before we condemned signings or , strangely, missing out on unheard of players.
Signed three....linked to lots more.......including what looks to be a skilful dutchman.......not a bad start

Danish FW is a fee-based transfer
also exploring a few other options abroad as well.
after the four mentioned expect another 2-4 players I’m told.

I'm a bit uneasy about this one. I'm glad he got a good move to a decent club on the up, but I feel like it's going to click for him at some point and we're going to regret letting him go. He's only ever shown in flashes the highs he's capable of, but there's a player in there.
I hope he has a fantastic career. He deserves it for all the effort he's put in for us, especially last season where he spent most of it trying to fill a position he doesn't really have the requirements to fit. Letting "one of our own" go always makes me a bit sad, but with the money he would have been on its probably the right thing to do.
