  1. I remember Warne trying to explain over the summer about the transfers (more or less words to the effect of "we can only get bad deals right now and doing bad deals isn't the right thing to do") but it just came out all wrong and seemed to cause more friction instead of easing it - I think just a case of not being PR game savvy enough but I understand the intention.
  2. We can always laugh at forest. I mean, just look at them. Just, not directly at them, that can lead to blindness.
  3. I still advocate the England team being forced to do a little Morris dancing before each international.
  4. I once had a ticket to an England v India ODI at Lords that was £110. That was about 12 years ago so probably not come down in price. I remember British superbikes and british touring cars being of the order of thirty quid but it's been a while so probably crept up. Had a fairly cheap ticket for Scotland v Argentina rugby match about 5 years ago, think it was something like £28.
  5. Oh DC, you've mis-spoke there and used the word rocking when you meant the word jog. Easy to do I guess.
  6. By the time he went we were decent and improving every season, had a young, committed and talented squad and had digested the after effects of Paul Jewell. There was some utterly deranged stuff said during Nigel Clough's time, overall he handled tricky circumstances reasonably it wasn't until expectations from the ownership raised it became an issue for them. He was frustrating, stubborn and slow to develop the team...
  7. I hope for all our sakes it's a case of working through a few things and the team comes out the other side, perhaps that's what they're seeing in training? Who knows. I'm doing my best to be positive but I was annoyed on Saturday and having reflected on it, I'm still annoyed - we're not going to put thug the thug teams in league 1 so making matching them at that as our "thing to fix this" isn't going to end well. They can't bully a player off the ball who's already made the pass.
  8. I think it was a ssm rushism to give tickets sold rather than people in the ground and it was some time after he left we shifted back, but I've no idea what we currently use. There's a few clubs do the "tickets sold" thing but I don't think it's that common and it does seem a cheap trick.
  9. Win a few games and we'll feel better. It's always the way. I find all the "oh my god we're heading to league 2" stuff a bit over the top. Worst case is middling league 1 club until warne finally has his bobble hat removed. Best case is an unexpected complete turn around in fiom and style. (I don't hold much hope of that one) Most likely case is we get "a bit" better over time and finish top 6 because we're for sure below what we should be right now. not making the top 6 would be bad, but the world won't end. I remember the squealing about getting rid of Nigel Clough (Scunthorpe 4-1 at home rings a bell) and we came through that.
  10. Yeah, agreed - heading into the braking zone he had a chance to do it, but by the turn in point it wasn't happening (that chance to do it did depend on Leclerc having to brake earlier than he did and when leclerc matched Perez on the brakes the chace was gone), it's entirly on Perez for not recognising that although it does fit into racing incident for me. Leclerc didn't do anything wrong and had nowhere to go, Max had even less involvment beyond "existing", should've bailed out of it and tucked back in and finished on the podium. If Perez had been driving well in other races he could be forgiven for this one, but it's just another in a long run of bad decisions and mistakes. I knwo wanted to at least lead the Mexican grand prix and try to win it, but realistically finishing ahead of Lewis is what'll have kept him in a job.
  11. You never know, this might be the game we both get a reaction to Saturday and things start to click with the team. Maybe we've already been as bad as we can be this season and things start to get better. OK,it's hope more than expectation but as it seems we're on it for the long haul with warneball we can all choose blind faith, although, if there is a loving God, why, why does he let what's happening in the world happen?
  12. I'll be honest, after turn 1 we all knew it'd be piss easy for verstappen. After the restart when Lewis got past leclerc that was going to be it for the podium, the only interesting part being Lando making his way back to where the car should be. After sleeping on it, I still think that was terminal for Perez next season given Danny Ric's fine race and exceptional qualifying. The only modicum of grace for Perez was he did qualify ok relatively to max, started well and it wasn't a stupid send from way back like he's done a few times recently, he was fully alongside leclerc when they started braking, and he had the balls to try it. To be honest there's no sugar coating it,if red bull think they've got the red bull Danny back I don't think anything is saving him now - it's not this race but the whole second half of the season that's done it. If he'd been consistently "ok" he'd be easily forgiven this one.
  13. Monday morning, there is a change. Warne has a heart to heart with the squad. The squad openly express their views about the way we play. They talk about it for 20 minutes and decide the actually they need to run harder. Results remain indifferent. However, Paul warne survives by always being one step ahead of DCs assassination attempts. For he found a copy of Castro's book "How to not be assassinated by the CIA"
  14. Derby 1-1 Northampton Washington "a game leaving more questions than answers, chief amongst them, have the fans turned for good or can this Derby side revive it's season?"
  15. I'm sorry to hear that, i didn't know.
  16. He's not aged well has he? anyway, why not go full ostrich and bring him in?
  17. I've not seen the video and have no intention of doing so. Very sad news, condolances to his family and loved ones, the Panthers and the wider ice hockey community. From what I understand the ice hockey following in the UK is very much a community. For a sport that is physical to the point of violence it always amazes me how much the players must have a finely tuned sense of what is and isn't ok.
  18. NO spoilers please 🙂 To whet your appetite for tonights Mexican Grand Prix, we have the EnduroKa live from Brands Hatch, the economy hatch is endurance racing, with over 6 hours of pulsating excitment remaining!
  19. The soft underbelly has been part of the general character for yonks and is a persistant problem, however, the flip side is the general character of wanting to play football on the deck. Whenever we get serious about the soft underbelly what happens in a bonfire of all things we like about our team. and usually we still have the weakenss because we just don't want to be a thug team and we're not cut out to be stoke.
  20. I am getting more encouraged that next season will be much better balanced as everyone gravitates towards the red bull car concept and there isn't the same easy advantage for Max. That's not to max can't or won't win again next season, but at least if he's having to work for 8t I won't mind.
  21. As a "he's back" statement it's pretty big. Being out qualified by the guy who really wants your job is not great for poor old Checo. My prediction is Ricciardo ends up finishing 1 place ahead of Tsunoda anyway (same as Hulkenberg has had plenty of good qualifying results before ending the race somewhere near K-mag), I think the Ferrari's will move backwards and the mercs will move forwards. But at lease watching it happen will be fun. I hope between Mercedes and Ferrari the somehow bundle Max out of the win.
  22. Warne isn't a pragmatist though. He's a one style manager. Be really fit and out work them. A pragmatist would look at what resources we have in the squad and try to make efficient team of it. Warnock is the great example of this, his team's have the irritating character of Colin himself but they always set up to make the most of what he has rather than "we will do X and if that doesn't work do it harder"
  23. The thing that gets to me is, ok, we turn them into a team that fights more and wins the physical batles, but when we do win them, then what? From what I've seen of the season so far a tiny bit more actual nouse in the final third probably would have us top six. I hate this every time there's a "board of passing to each other lets gets a proper aggressive get at em manager" our team is 💩 at doing it and our fans hate watching it. No one is looking back back at Gary Rwett's side with misty eyes and Nigel Pearson was an abortion. Fed up. Going nowhere trying to pass and move and score perfect goals is preferable to going nowhere trying to make skilled footballers out thug thug teams who are just better at it.
