  1. Were you not at the Northampton game?
  2. Really? Well I would say accusing the owner of the club being untruthful (a polite way of saying lying) as a criticism.
  3. Well except that in a later post you said that unless, you Maguire and this unknown employee are all wrong DC isn’t being truthful.
  4. Maybe DC decided to ignore any fan vitriol aimed at SP and recognises, despite everything that has gone on in the past, that SP has something to offer the club. That seems like the most likely scenario to me given DC is an experienced businessman and will know a lot more about what’s happened over the last few years than us mere supporters. Perhaps Clowes has been truthful when he says Mel has no involvement in the running of the club and these comments by Maguire (if they’re even accurate) simply suggest that someone on the board is still in contact with Mel and just lets him know what’s going on. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m not remotely concerned at the moment.
  5. “Still got his henchmen that attend board meetings?” Seems a little vague and unlikely to me unless he just means that someone is reporting the goings on at board meetings back to Mel. So, if it’s happening, I’m wondering how this “secret employee” knows and why would Mel seek such information? At the end of the day though, provided Mel doesn’t have influence over the current running of the club what harm can it do and how can it be stopped?
  6. I don’t think the fans have been unsupportive in previous games. Not in the stadium anyway and I find it hard to believe that the players, especially the senior ones of which there were many on Saturday, allow social media comments to affect them that much. I think it was down to players being on their game (I can’t recall any horrendous errors) and a more effective high energy in their faces tactical approach. Add to that the fact that Barnsley, who must have been high on confidence, tried to play which means we didn’t have to spend most of the game trying to find a way to break down a solid defensive block.
  7. That’s pretty much what Warne was saying post match. He sounded quite optimistic that quite a few will be returning in time for our next league game.
  8. Watched Ted K last night, on Amazon Prime, about the Unabomber. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course I already knew the story but, having watched the film, I couldn’t help but sympathise with his cause but not his methods.
  9. But, has has been mentioned before, if we’d spent a million on “a few good players” (I’m not sure how many such players we would have got for a million) we would have to have spent the money spice - firstly in transfer fees and then again in wages. I’m sure most players that meet that criteria would have demanded a decent pay packet.
  10. Unfortunately there are a few that have been a little more vociferous in their comments about PW than just saying “Warne is unlikely to be the right man to take Derby forward long term”. These are the people that may need to eat humble pie at some stage but it’s still too early to determine if the Warne supporters or Warne haters will be proved wrong. In the meantime, I might be the mature thing to do if his detractors could at least acknowledge, through gritted teeth, that yesterday’s performance against a fancied team was a good performance even if it does prove to be just a flash in the pan. Obviously not aimed at you as that is exactly what you’ve done.
  11. After about half an hour I revised my prediction to the person sitting next to me from 1:1 to 0:0 but not because I thought the football was dour but because the teams looked pretty evenly matched who cancelled each other out. I thought it might end up as an entertaining goalless draw.
  12. I still have the PM he sent me inviting me to chat with him if I needed to when my mother passed away. This news has upset me nearly as much as that sad day two years ago.
  13. Did you not enjoy the performance or is it just that you can’t bring yourself to say it?
  14. I don’t think you’re alone in that feeling somehow. 😀
  15. Devastating news and puts everything else into perspective. Maybe we could name one of the threads after him (a La the Jim Smith room). Players and managers come and go but they will never have more love and devotion for DCFC than the fans. No fan could be passionate about the Rams than B4. 😢
  16. Interesting. I really enjoyed Breaking Bad but not so El Camino. Perhaps my expectations were too high having seen the series.
  17. Without not wishing to turn this thread into the history channel (this is an interesting debate)I'm not sure I entirely agree. Technically, it may have been against their religion to go to war (I don't know), they made a pretty good job of extending their influence - largely by force I would guess. Wasn't the first Punic war against Carthage triggered by Rome's expansionist policy? Also, the state may have been a sort of democracy, more than half of the adult population couldn't vote.
  18. Surely you mean “misused”.
  19. So starting a war wasn’t “forbidden” you just had to find a just reason? Sounds familiar.
  20. I honestly thought you were joking and meant our David on this forum 😂
  21. Depends on which 6 you will have attended. I'm guessing they include Peterborough, Bolton and of course Port Vale (all of which probably reached general sale last season).
  22. I reckon they deliberately wanted to avoid an announcement of a vote of confidence ( which often seems to precede a sacking). Rather than DC or someone else coming out and saying something that wanted it to be business as usual - nothing to see here. Actually makes sense to me.
  23. It’s not the fans who would be pulling the trigger though is it? Whether you like it or not, I think it will take more than a defeat on Saturday to see him gone.
  24. Whether fans hear it or not is the point if you're going to claim it happened. Regarding how Bird's height, well if Bird got offended by that then he really is a delicate flower. No one in their right mind would consider Bird to be a shorty so I would suggest Warne meant he thought he was average height but Bird is taller. I'd have to listen back to EXACTLY what Warne said about Didzy's injury. Same with Bird's possible transfer. From my recollection I think to suggest he was insinuating Bird's loyalty to the club was "paper thin" is a bit of an exaggeration. OK, he can be careless but more often than not he making a poor attempt at a bit of humour. I suspect the players know that and whilst they might find it a bit irritating (as a lot of us do) I'd be surprised if they take enough offence to want to move away from the club and then be complimentary of the manager's style rather than keeping quiet on the subject.
  25. Firstly, to help me accept your point, can you give me three examples of when he has belittled players (including Didzy given you suggested that was one of the reasons he left Derby) on the radio/TV? Secondly, the statement “some who will not forgive him” is your assumption and not necessarily fact. For all we know they may just shrug off any such comments (depending on there severity) as part of being a footballer.
