  1. A packed midfield? On no, does that mean we’ll have to do plenty of getting the ball out wide and crossing it? That’ll go down well on this forum. 😀
  2. Why didn’t they “up the pace and score” again in the 9 minutes of time added on if it was that easy for them? Why did it take them 20 minutes to finally getting around to upping the pace and scoring?
  3. Yes sorry. I was using the Royal “we” in order to avoid it looking as if I was trying to single out individuals.
  4. I can’t help but feel we’re trying to find as many things as possible to slag PW off about (there are plenty of fully justified reasons without searching out half hearted reasons). I agree the comment about formation was a tad unnecessary but I’m sure Dom will get over it. With regard to any fans that may have left, personally I don’t think he was being sarky and I don’t think he was “wittering on”, he made one comment, I’m sure he’s said it before (he may even have said it in this interview, I’ve not listened back to it) that he gets it when/if fans leave before the final whistle.
  5. A few words on the referee, given the officials only seem to get a mention when they have been poor. I thought he was one of the better ones this season and, on the whole, had a good game. My only criticism was his reluctance to issue any yellow cards. I thought Martin was lucky not to get booked and he should really have put the goal keepers name in his book for the persistent time wasting. What was that all about anyway? What was the point of such blatant time wasting in the first half? It’s not as if they needed to disrupt our momentum.
  6. That was THE highlight but, whilst it was a pretty dire game of little quality from either side, there were the a handful of other bright moments but they were all too isolated.
  7. I agree. The first half was pretty dire (but not quite as bad as some are describing it). Two poor league one sides showing little invention and cancelling each other out although I also had Bristol slightly ahead on points at the break (and not just because of them hitting the post). Pre-match, I predicted 2:2 amongst the group I sit with. At half time I revised my guess to 0:0. Neither team seemed to have the ability to convert the few half chances so it was quite appropriate that the first was an own goal. Having said that though, credit to NML for beating his man and putting in a dangerous cross that, although it didn’t reach a Derby player, was very difficult for the defenders to handle. The second half was a big upgrade but still not great entertainment until the final 10 minutes (plus half an hour of time added on). A lot was made on RD of winning three league games on the bounce but, they were all of course at home. If we can back them up with a win on Tuesday (and then ideally a win against Orient) my feelings for our chances will move a little more from hope to expectation. COYR.
  8. It wasn’t a great game, neither team looked great, but it didn’t quite hit the “abysmal performance” definition for me.
  9. Good to say hello to you and your dad before the game. With the added bonus of meeting @Foreveram and a win (albeit not pretty or easy. The win that is, not @Foreveram 😀).
  10. A bit over dramatic. If Martin scores or not is not the issue. The only way Saturday will be a disaster is if we lose (or at least fail to win).
  11. Yes. I’ve watched all the episodes. Somewhat unusual but I enjoyed it.
  12. Why would they turn up for the other half then? Genuine question as I missed it, have the got a link to or a copy of the actual quote when he said he can’t motivate the players?
  13. I agree that would have been the logical thing to do initially but reckon, if DC really thought he couldn’t be trusted and/or is incompetent, he could probably have replaced him by now. So, if DC is prepared to keep him on (however reluctantly that may or may not be) in such a senior role then, whilst I’ll always view him with a degree of suspicion, I’m prepared to move on.
  14. I assume you mean SOME of our fans. It remains to be seen whether he got the head coach appointment right but I trust DC on this one.
  15. What other scenarios can you think of then?
  16. If you can find and attract another Arthur Cox then happy days. In the meantime, it doesn’t matter how many times anyone says Warne isn’t good enough for Derby County we’re stuck with him until his contract expires, DC decides to show him the door or, he makes such a success of managing the club over the next year or so that someone poaches him (I’m joking of course before anyone accuses me of being deluded or drinking too early in the morning).
  17. And neither should they, given the amount of time that has elapsed. I reckon the list of potential sanctions in the article are just there to make the story more juicy. I have no love for Spurs but it really wouldn’t be right to punish them now especially with a points deduction.Mind you, all the clubs that might think about suing them (or Portsmouth) could be interesting. We could have a class action against them. Heck, we could also include Wycombe. 😀
  18. The trains drivers serving the nearby station were no doubt on strike so you’re probably right. 😀
  19. I think the importance of pointing fans in the right direction (after all, the stadium is difficult to see from that location 😀) far outweighed any health and safety regulations.
  20. Ah, that makes sense. Hopefully you can see how a simple statement can be read two different ways rather than me trying to put words in your mouth. Having said that, I’m not sure you can partially absolve someone from blame or guilt. You’re either absolved or you’re not. I’ll have to check with my wife. She’s more of a wordsmith than me. 😀
  21. No. The points being made that I was responding to were that some fans think we have seriously underperformed and that some fans are making excuses to completely absolve the manager of any blame.
  22. To be fair, I’m not sure any/many are making “excuses to absolve the manager of any blame completely”. Most of us are suggesting some mitigating circumstances that need to be considered but certainly don’t absolve the manager completely. With this in mind, I agree we have underperformed but I wouldn’t necessarily say seriously underperformed.
  23. Just stay well away from the Warne in/out debate otherwise you’ll quickly alienate 50% of the forum. 😀 Other subject to avoid include the merits of the away ticket allocation system, standing or sitting at away games and whether Collins is any good or not.
  24. Except that you have chosen to diminish the 5th (and potentially most important) point by using phrases like "claim to know David Clowes mind" and "no intention of getting rid come what may". Do you not think a more realistic 5th point might have been something like: "with the club standing outside of the play offs on goals scored only, DC might believe it would be premature to get rid of PW at the moment. But he could change is mind at some future date if things deteriorated"?
