To a man, that was absolutely pathetic.
Even Warne cannot sugar coat this performance.

Hard to find the words. A good case for that being our worst performance since coming out of administration, certainly relatively given the level of opposition, with days left of the window and us seemingly very under prepared and under cooked for the season ahead.
I hope I’m just bedwetting, but I do try and be constructive and objective: I’m concerned.

Utter dross. I like Paul Warne as a man, but I'm finding it painful to watch so far this year.
So, so, so boring. No invention going forward at all. And no one looks like they know where to pass. We bypass our own midfield completely.
Barrow were comfortably the better side there.

That was utterly disgraceful. Two divisions between us ffs - doesn’t look like it! Have we ever, genuinely, looked properly good under Paul Warne? Even against vastly inferior opponents we are still out footballed.
Awful to watch, and I’m sure we will now lose on penalties - as we deserve to. All that hope from last season has very quickly evaporated with a throughly depressing summer window and relegation almost a certainty imo - unless we get in a manager who can actually coach football

Poor form if we don't get a striker in.
Not like we've had the whole window to bring another other than Yates in.

If it’s true the striker is Ali Al-Hamadi Ipswich need a striker before we get him. It looks like they’re trying to revive the Broja deal now which would up our chances.
If we don’t get a striker it’s awful by the people from the top to be honest. I don’t like to be negative because so much people already are but knowing we’ve needed a striker since the final whistle from Carlisle and not getting one (Yates aside) is poor.

“We had a few inquiries for him, but we were looking for specific things. We certainly like the pressure of the Championship. We like the pressure of a big club, which you get at Derby.
“We really like the manager as well, he had ‘Gilo’ [Ryan Giles] before at Rotherham and we liked the way he looked after a young player there. So, it fits for Tawanda to go back under that tutelage, and we just think it's a place he can go and express himself and get a lot of game time. It's tough to play for our first-team here, but it's tough to play for Derby's first-team as well. He's going to have to really have his wits about him, both in terms of playing style, but also integrating into the squad and being in an environment that's difficult, with the expectation of a big crowd which really knows its football.”..."
    Something, something, Rotherham? 😄

Very complimentary about the club and Warne. Nice to read and interesting to hear directly from a PL side as to what they look for when considering a loan, dispels some of the myths.

He’s a young player of some substance, not too dissimilar to Ozoh. There is a real expectation that he becomes a first-team player for Wolves, he’s started playing internationally and done really well by all accounts. I’ve never seen him play personally, obviously, but like the profile. He seems to bring in a lot of attributes that we simply are lacking and hopefully he can showcase his ability with us this season.
Wolves were reluctant to let him go, but I feel that this has got to a point where we needed an answer and they’ve allowed him to go. He was a regular of their matchday squad at the back end of last season.

I think with Elder, Forsyth and Osborn being able to play there it couldn't be less of a priority really.
I mean ideally the centre back we bring in could play left back as well.
But for me the front 3 needs the biggest work.
I don't think NML is good enough and we're relying on him too much and when we take him off it's Barkhuizen coming on who's barely league one level.
Nobody has seen CBT get a run of games so no idea if he's good enough or not really. I'd actually have Kane Wilson as a winger not a full back.
We need players in the front 3 who make better decisions in the final third and make the right runs.
The amount of time Nyambe got the ball against Watford and had to turn back because Mendez-Laing drifted inside and didn't make a run down the line.
Our forward line needs the most work.
We look solid, we just make shocking decisions in the final third.

Devine is a very highly rated prospect, one of the most decorated youth internationals in England’s history, but he hasn’t exploded onto the scene in his loans. It doesn’t always happen that way, sometimes it can take a couple of loan moves in order to find their feet at senior level: Dane Scarlett was another who I highlighted as one who is likely to suddenly get on a roll. These lads get to where they are on raw talent, but it’s not always enough. Devine had an excellent preseason with Spurs, perhaps we can give him a platform to bring his talent to the forefront. I think Warne is potentially a good match for him, a talented midfielder who has struggled to impact games - Max Bird was a prime example.
Of course it’s a gamble, but I fear that we do have a lack of talent in the team so bringing someone in with raw talent, of that magnitude, could really help. Given our budgetary restraints, talent is going to be difficult to come by.

Really frustrating one yesterday, much more than the Blackburn game. The gulf in class was evident in terms of individual ability, but I think as a team we did enough to deserve a point yesterday.
Yes, it was attack v defence for a lot of the game, but that’s always going to be the case when our team is still effectively league one quality - we have to be pragmatic to stand any chance, and we did a pretty good job yesterday in my view. We restricted Watford to very few chances through some excellent defending and sheet work rate. Both their goals were well taken and slightly fortunate to be honest, they had few other clear cut chances. I don’t think as fans we can expect much more from the team currently, given the lack of investment in it.
It does emphasise how important this week is for the club though. We’re currently quite a way off the standard required to even properly compete with mid table Championship sides (which imo Watford will prove to be over the season). You can’t go through a whole season unable to retain possession and with so little threat up front.

We need serious reinforcements this week, because as things stand Pep Guardiola couldn’t keep this squad up, all due respect to them. Clowes has got to back his manager and get us some proper goal threat in, or we’ve no chance.

Would Devine get into the team over Goudmijn, Ozoh, Adams or Osborn?
He has a nice profile - a good passer of the ball and technically good - but would he not make the midfield either too lightweight or too inexperienced?
Al Hamadi is obviously a good goalscorer and has good instincts in the area and good finishing. Would he hold the ball up and bring others into play? Would he get the service?
When it comes to loans, you can see we are looking at players with good potential, but do they actually solve our problems?
I think we need a Dembele type of player. We need to create more chances.

Answer was surely both when you need a goal. Is a bit daft that you’re not using him if he’s on the bench in a situation where you need to score.

Devine, Al Hamadi and a defender would be a great end to the window. Washington going out would then be even better.

Would be absolutely delighted with Al-Hamadi. The sort of loan that could become permanent if Ipswich stay up, which I think is important

One small point of order - I don't think you can class Jackson's goal against Boro as "coming from a set piece", since it was Boro's set piece and Jacko ran 3/4 of the length of the pitch to score it, if you include where he started from.
    Otherwise, fair post.
