Looks highly likely they’re going to get a points deduction for FFP, and probably similar to Everton c.9-10 points, unfortunately though I think they’ll still survive. Reckon 33 will be enough which means Forest need 42-43 which is very possible from their current position. Luton starting to find it tough and Adebayo being out is a massive blow for them, Everton could get further points. So yes, the red dogs will cheat and get away with it.

I don't know, knock them down to 14 or 15 points and they're definitely deep in it. At the very least it's them v Luton for 17th, and Luton have a points and game advantage. We can hope at least. Be nice to play them next season.

We did the right thing here, If, IF, we go up he’ll likely join, Wednesday will almost certainly be in league 1 again and find the position much weaker.

Still a concern that we never entertain signing younger talent. I’m hoping we’re going to do that from day 1, when back in the championship.

We can't afford to right now. Any youngsters we get are going to have to be rough diamonds. We can't go and get those who are pretty much guaranteed to step up and straight into our team.

Our wheel park for youngsters is more of the Irish or lower non-League, not league players.

A striker in his later years is the only other cost available player and I presumably like Warne have a lot more faith in that than throwing in untested youths.

That said Weston, Brown and our own lads are something we should be pushing as they're probably as good or better than other potential youngsters.

Martin is a bad example here because he never could run around. Gayle was a pace merchant. He would need to significantly adjust his game if his legs have gone.

Has spent a lot of time recently playing further back, more of an attacking midfielder. Not sure if that's to cover for diminishing pace or just to fit a system.

  4. Listening to a Bristol Rovers deadline day live podcast as they were talking about Fornah and they've just spent a good 5 minutes praising the wardrobe as unstoppable. Scores any chance he gets, has 11 in 14 starts, has best goals per minute in league one.

A lot of speculation from rovers that they are after a Costa Rican midfielder from Forest so maybe not signing Fornah.

  5. Kazim-Richards at the training ground today of all days is a bit odd. Wonder if we're looking at him as a Bradley Johnson type over age player/coach. Hence a possible non-transfer related announcement.

If it's a stop-gap month long contract with the first team until injuries clear up I imagine a lot of fans will be irate.

Is it possible we agree a deal and get a deal sheet in for someone?

Yes and no. The EFL have a 'streamline process" instead, where basically from 10:45 we can send over a partially completed transfer document, and get an extension until 11:15 to get all the paperwork in.

  7. Looks like we've played hardball. They bid, we're not selling because we want him for the rest of the season. However offer something silly and we'll talk.

They come back and meet in the middle, decent fee and we don't have to scramble for a replacement.  I figure the tribunal would have  favoured them in terms of fee, but this way they have no competition and can probably escape a lot of add ons. They must be buying with one eye on selling at a profit.

As for us we aren't weakened as such, have guaranteed money in the pot and a chance to strengthen up front for the next 5 hours.

Not saying you're wrong but what makes you think Barnsley are certs? The still have to play Bolton home and away, go to Portsmouth and play the mighty Rams (😄) at their place. Their record (in terms of results) over the last 5 games is exactly the same as ours and, of course, they lost at home to bottom half of the table Exeter last week.

For what it's worth, I think they will be there in the play offs along with ourselves.

I meant certs for the play offs, Bolton, Peterborough or possibly Portsmouth for the top 2 as things stand.

Taking it from this that a midfielder is going, Smith or Fornah?

In some semblance of order based on PW's likely preference for CM

    1. Bird

    2. Hourihane

    3. Thompson

    4. Adams

    5. Smith

    6. Fornah

    7. SIbley?

    8. Robinson or Fapetu

I would have though midfielder could also include the likes of Ward

    Thinking What GIF by ION

Not saying they will all go, just that I can see there being interest in people taking them and us moving them out for the right deal, and in honesty apart from 2 or 3 they'd barely affect the bench given Warne's preferences.

  11. Between 3rd and 6th. Bolton and Peterbrough are a bit more consistant and will pull away, I'm surpised we're still in touching distance given our dodgy start and recent struggles.

Pompey are in mediocre form but have points in the bag, Barnsley are certs for me, then likely us and one other. If Oxford drop enough points and either Stevenage and Blackpool keep string a few results they might creep in. Leyton Orient, Northampton and Wigan are a bit too far back with possibly too little in the tank.

Play offs will probably be won by whoever finishes 3rd.

  12. Convinced there will be a bit of action today.

There will be a striker, Gregory may be plan C or D, but if we have to fall back on him I reckon we will.

Outgoings wouldn't surprise me either - think Wildsmith, Cashin, Oduroh, Ward, Bird, Sibley, Fornah, Barkhuizen, Robinson, Radcliffe, Allen, Fapetu and Weston could all be subject to late moves, albeit more than likely loans.

Devil's advocate - would you swap Sibley for a striker, loan or otherwise?

We simply don't have the budget to shop for players who come without a level of risk.

Wilson was also a sick note, but he's been one of the stand out players this season.

Wilson and Adams were team mates at Forest Green the season they got promoted to league one.

Both played 40+ games and got championship moves in the following summer. I hope he can be another Wilson for us.
