I suppose we do need some older heads...

Wigan continually exploited PW’s infatuation with pressing. In the most part they just played around the pressing players.
Better to get some sort of organisation into the team when the opposition have the ball.
When we have the ball we cannot be so predictable in our forward play.
I hope he does a better job with the team going forward.
Nothing wrong with wanting to press and play with high energy if you have the players for that..

He must’ve been sat in the stands thinking I can offer more than this for sure.
He can and will once he’s fit and fully integrated. The bloke has played an higher level all his career, he will make a difference; don’t get the doubters.
I do think he will suit that 10 role well cutting inside and allowing more space for the RWB

Would sell for the right price & use the money to bring in natural & creative number 10s as well as a holding mid
Can we use the money to full effect though? Not much point if not

Anyway, from what I saw of Wigan they will be ok this season and would be surprised that if they’re not a top 6 at least on a points-per-game ratio. Warne said they had the best front four in the league, while I’m not sure about that it was very good. McManaman had Ward chasing shadows in the first half, Wyke was who we want Collins to be and I thought Humphrey’s was best of all. Lang, I believe is the highest rated one, but really didn’t see too much from him. I can see why Warne likes them so much.
I also think the keeper looked excellent and at a such young age should win a lot of plaudits this season. Both centre backs, although young, babysat Collins through the game and stopped him from holding anything up or getting on the end of everything. Aasgard clearly a talented player, too.
It would be a great achievement if they can get into the play-offs with their -8. Best team aside from Ipswich and Plymouth I’ve seen in this division in the past 12 months anyway.
The 8, Smith really impressed me

The balance wasn't great and none were great but thought Bird was the best of the 3. I worry if Warne is the right manager for younger players.

Long long way to go but honestly, at times we looked old and slow
-
He meant waghorn is in the building but also said we were hopefully close on another one

I do wonder if Waggy, Rhodes, Smith happen, then maybe there is something in the Collins to Shrewsbury rumour

Story is in tomorrow's paper so probably something new

Fozzie Club Captain
Is that prediction or confirmed?

Doesn't sound hopeful. Two strikers he was interested in have gone to other league 1 sides. Nothing of interest loan wise.
Wonder who they were?

Hmm. Doesn't sound that confident but we shall see.

We certainly weren't playing as if he was leaving on Sat. Took a knock but carried on playing.

We just need to get out of this division and then players at nondescript clubs like Hull and Bristol will be wanting to join us again.

Just been looking at hull’s squad
definitely Woods , Alfie Jones CM/CB, Ryan longman, or more realistically
Fleming , woods and Tettah 6ft 4 striker
But would Woods drop down to L1?

If we have a limit of 300K per signing, then it's going to be very difficult to replace Bird. Do we take the chance of keeping him, going up and then more chance of him signing a new contract or take the money before possibly losing him on a free.

Not happy if true

Still need another forward, 10 and probably another midfielder, as over a whole season, Warne's style may not be kind on our current options

Due to the 4 injured players ( Elder, Sibley, Barkhuizen & Washington), who wont be match fit, and the fact we have no other new players signed as of yet, the team v Wigan picks itself..apart from Cashin or Fozzie?
If no other injuries:
Wildsmith
Nelson Bradley Cashin
Ward Bird Smith HourihanThompson
Mendez- Laing Collins
Subs:
Vickers Forsyth Rooney Wilson Johnson Waghorn Brown
Doubt Johnson will be on the bench for the first team? Robinson more likely

Just dock them points

Do we need cover there? For me, less a priority. Elder, Forsyth, Wilson, Sibley maybe
