  1. Surely if we were having our pants pulled down so badly then more teams than Bristol city would be in for him, and also would be pushing the fee up.

Someone is worth what someone will pay. Knight is a decent footballer with a great engine. Really didn’t push on last season. Hope he does have a good career but I just don’t see it.

Hughes, Hendricks were on a whole different level to knight.

A league one club has had a bid accepted of roughly £500k for Millwall winger, Tyler Burey. He’s a player with a questionable character, but a lot of talent going by the comments from supporters - lots of Millwall fans don’t want to lose his ability and potential ceiling, others are happy to get rid of someone with a questionable attitude.

I doubt it is us, honestly, but the list of league one teams willing to spend £500k is incredibly short.

Trying to think of the list, us, Bolton, maybe Barnsley. Reading would a be a possible but financial issues, same with wigan and Blackpool.

    charlton as an outside bet?

I can't recall the amount of times we have categorically announced that we're not in for Darnell Fisher but a good half dozen now with the latest being just last week.

As unmoved I am about Dabo, he would be much more preferable to Fisher who I genuinely would struggle to reason. He has so few redeeming features other than he plays a position of need - but even then I'd 100% rather go into the season with Korey Smith at right back than Fisher.

Yeah I’d be pretty underwhelmed with both of them.

O'Connell hasn't made an appearance since 21st September 2020 due to knee surgery so it'd be a big risk.

I'm not sure the rigours of Warneball are ideal for dodgy knees?

Didn’t realise had been that long since I’d seen him play!! Might as well get George Thorne back

O’Connell was a great cb in that Chris Wilder side, however he hasn’t played in over 2 years due to a knee injury, unless he can prove his fitness and take a low wage or pay as you play I think there’s more sensible options to consider.

Didn’t realise he’d had that many injury problems! Like you I really rated him a couple of years ago.

    Still the same scouting system?

Burnley had a consistent 3 starting CMs last season, opying to bring the 32 year old Gudmundsson on for the 33 year old Cork, and rareley using 5th choice Bastien. They're in the market for at least 1 CM this summer, more likely 2.

Knight would be a very good backup option to Brownhill. In the right system and better coaching, he'd improve considerably in front of goal, as per his 6 goals as a squad player in Cocu's first season.

I thought he’s quite similar to brownhill as well.

Update on Knight, Luton, Burnley and Wolves interesed in the prem. Birmingham looking to buy both Bielik and Knight together

    Any potential fees mentioned?

Presume we’re just trying to drive it as high as we can. Pleasantly surprised by this, hopefully get a good fee for both.

For me, Bird needs to be played with a defensive minded player alongside him. The fabled "double pivot" that all the amateur tacticians rave about. It enables him to receive the ball deep, pick a pass and move forward into the space he's created whilst the workhorse stays back and gives him a bit more cover. He didn't have a great season because Hourihane is the opposite of that sort of player and wants to be on the edge of the opposition box. Add that to a team with 0 pace effectively doubling the area he needed to cover and you have a recipe for disaster.

The problem with that is that Warne likes the back 3, and that doesn't leave room for the double pivot unless you're Pep and have Rodri and Stones available. I simply don't believe we'll see the best from him unless we go back to the 4-2-3-1 and add a holding player alongside him. The majority of his best performances have been with Bielik or pre-covid Rooney, and both offered the ability to cover when he stepped forward or vice-versa.

Think bird often has the option to be more positive in his play and drive the team forward but invariably he seems to go sideways and take the safe option.

agree he was definitely at his best with pre covid Rooney though. Looked an excellent player for that few months.

The only way you can compare Bird to Hughes is in the lack of goals. Other than that Hughes could run a game from start to finish in a top 3 Championship team. Hughes could play killer balls in the box and get a team up the field. Bird has just had a poor season in Tier 3. I think his days are numbered with Warne .

I’m with you on this, Hughes was light years ahead of bird.

If you want to access his impact, see what happened to the team that was flying and on a long unbeaten run, after he got injured.

You could probably apply all of your criticisms to Jan Molby from the Liverpool team of the 1980s.

Using your logic all would’ve been rosey when he came back from injury?

not saying has no qualities, just that I think he is very replaceable. Still think best period was with Rooney pre lockdown. Is a long time ago now. We didn’t dictate games very often at all last year. If not doing that then bird is not too involved.

Hopefully Roberts would be the left side of a 3 rather then LWB.  I don't think his crossing is good enough to be our first choice wing back.

Think I agree with that, roberts was good towards end of the season. Didn’t hide and tried to drive the team forward but ultimately I think I’d want more quality going forward there from a wingback.

not against him as cover for lwb or playing as one of the back three.

Defensive stats compared to other wingers...

BUT, he's not a wing back and probably wouldn't suit Warne.

Stats can be misleading at times. From watching him nothing made me think he’d be good defensively.

Would like Ebiowei back on loan - wonder if he could be converted to a wing back? Seemed to struggle in the Championship so may he to drop down a level, but Warne should love him given how quick he runs.

He didn’t seem to track back much as a winger, was great going forward. Not sure is a warne player at all

Yes. Because sometimes it reached the away membership 0-5 category but didn't reach general sale.

I was in that category and managed 6 away games this season including Wednesday, Cheltenham and Cambridge. I'm not sure I would have got a ticket for any of these if I hadn't had away membership.

It’s still moving you up a stage isn’t it.

will be doing it myself, this year been a nightmare for away tickets. Managed five games. But if allocation under 2500 it was almost pointless trying.

  15. I watched the play offs and really thought we’re better than all four of these sides.

even wednesday winning 5-1 weren’t impressive. Just keep smashing it in the box over and over.

Peterborough had one touch in opponents half on over an hour.

Bolton and Barnsley just look average football teams.

hopefully Wednesday go up, really think we should be top two next year. Think the bottom half of this league is awful, Ipswich and Plymouth good sides.

no excuses next season, warne has a full window, time on his side, no dead wood around the club. Fingers crossed. Still find it amazing we didn’t make top six from where we were in feb. Let’s look forward to next year though.
