  1. I’d be amazed if he plays regularly for anyone in league one. He rats about ok, but drifts out of position badly to the left, then his passing is very negative. And his size not ideal either.

Would send to league two for a year and see if he can force his way into a team and make an impact.

started well under Rooney, but was mainly in games where we were really backs against the wall and putting massive shifts in. Also had some poor ones in that season too.

  2. Yeah a lot of people presuming he chose not to play for us. Possibly had a look at him and went no further?

Good luck to the lad, the post above equating the standard to mickleover, Buxton etc put me off this lad a bit. If that the case at 23 you’d want him scoring a goal a game to think could make step up to league one.

I honestly don’t know. Regardless of runs of games in the same position and the for and against moaners;  he has always seemed to lurch from being scarily dangerous to bland verging on anonymous but ….I think that’s part of the youth and development of a player of his type. One thing for sure, towards the end of last season he looked physically much stronger than 12 months before when he was getting knocked off the ball too easily. This is an important season for him wherever he plays.

I preferred him at left back in a four. Lwb is really tough fitness wise, now sure sibley has the engine for it. At left back he had a winger in front to play off, also a lot of space to run into and then his crossing was generally excellent.

Lwb wise he seems to end up just going up and down and neither really attacking or defending.

    Extremely sad.

When I say this, I have nothing against Bristol City as a club to any fans reading and mean no disrespect at all, despite Mr Poppadom over on their forum being an absolute end of a bell....I believe Knight can do a lot better.

Just to clarify, he can also do a lot better than League  1.

The lad should be either somewhere challenging for Premier League promotion or in the Premier League bottom half.

Give the lad his place in midfield, box to box, let him shine, don't abuse his willingness to play in every position giving it 100%.

In a year or two when Premier League clubs come sniffing you, which they will, one hell of a profit to be made from £2m.

What a player they are getting for £2m jeez.

Would like to think there's some kind of sell on fee, given his contract situation however I think it's unlikely.

The best compliment you can give him is, whenever he pulls on a shirt and crosses the white line, you can have no doubts at all he will be the hardest working player on the team, never giving anything less than 100%.

    Look after him 😢

Admire the sentiment behind this and knight always gave it everything for us. Genuinely hope he cracks on and has a good career.

However if he was as good as you proclaim would there not have been more clubs in for him? Especially at this £2m price.

    Lets get there first Mel!

But we aren't under an EFL business plan and we are a bigger draw. The recruitment team will have had longer to settle in as well.

Yeah am happy to worry about the championship when we get there. Getting out of this league anyway possible must be the plan next season

Well actually there was an uplift wasnt there…. Quite an epic one which at one point had us all dreaming of catching the running away with it top 2

but then the toils of having the smallest squad in the league took its toll

funny what people chose to ignore and remember

So the uplift is entirely because of warne, and the subsequent fading away is entirely roseniors fault?

wasn’t like warne had a window to increase the size of his squad was it.

Clowes is not going to spend recklessly regardless of the circumstances or the needs and wants of the fans. His opinion of reckless might be very different to ours.

Get used to us not being the big swinging appendages in the transfer market.

That’s a strange thing to get used to when trying to get promoted, and the owner also expecting promotion!

no one’s wanting millions spent, just looking as good as last season would be a relief at the minute.

it's okay people saying spread the goals out to replace the 20+ from a striker, but you have to add relative quality elsewhere to actually spread the goals out.

as things stand we are much weaker than last year, lets hope we have a busy few weeks. it doesnt have to be a striker it could be wingers or midfielders capable of getting into double figures. at the moment we just dont have it both upfront or behind the striker

Would be nice having decent options to change things this season too.

Agree we currently seem much weaker than last year, and that ultimately wasn’t enough for top six. We’re now edging towards the season without much activity. Heard many times how we were behind others last season in terms of prep and fitness. Doesn’t seem we’ve done much in the time this year we’ve “gained back”.

  9. Yeah, very little I saw last season convinced me Collins should be our first choice.

did have a good spell early on under warne, think could be a good third striker. Main issue is a lack of excelling at anything. Seems ok at most things without being great at any of them.

Pace would be a nice change up front too

I think Liam Thompson could also do though things that Knight does, given the chance

I’d be really surprised if Thompson plus much of a part with us going forwards. Went backwards last season after a decent break through. Has no confidence on the ball, drifts out of position constantly. Drops deep all the time. Ended up being loaned to a team relegated from the conference.

Maybe a loan to league two this season and see if he can find a position or way forward in the men’s game.

What a disingenuous statement. Actual reasons...

    Knight -

    • 1 year left on his contract
    • Potentially doesn't want to be here
    • Wasn't particularly great last season, albeit has consistently been good for Ireland
    • We're a league one club, we don't have the option to hold onto players we once had if solid money is offered

    Bielik -

    • 2 ACL Injuries
    • Doesn't want to be here
    • We can't afford his wages to keep him here
    • 1 year left on his contract

Add this to the backdrop of what has happened to the club as a whole and it's obvious. It's extremely short-sighted to draw a straight line between £1m for Bielik = development is the problem.

Also, sadly seems that we were the only club to ever value bielik at £10m!

Good footballer but we all know his injury issues.

Am not sure knight was ever worth £10m. The £2m expected now seems cheap but would think £4/5m was his highest ever value.
