If any consolation is to be found… good for Trotty 😅

Who would’ve ever thought there’d be a time in my life where I’d take John Eustace over Wayne Rooney in a heartbeat…
Thinking about it actually, Eustace was miles better for us as a player than Rooney 😂

Hope it’s not like the 2021 T20s, when it was bowl first and win.

It's interesting hypothetically (as we don't have a vacancy), but not sure if it's a good idea to go back. Nigel Clough did a good job, but is generally recognised in hindsight and was unpopular with many fans during his tenure. Having said that, a very good manager at this level, no question.
And hates us now.
Which is a shame. Think it’s what put him off leaving Burton for Forest the other year.
-
We were ready to challenge a year earlier but Clough kept the hand break on. We played good football and battered everyone at home but set up defensively away.
By the time 13/14 came around, teams knew we were good at home so set up to counter us but we finally took the breaks off and started battering everyone away.
If he’d have been brave a year sooner we’d have made the play-offs.

I believe there were two repeat offenders: Toddy and Ninos.
Ninos!!
Those were the days, when everybody had a fetish for us needing ‘pace and power’ up front 😂

Ian Hall. Yeah Bloomers was a Shrews fan I think.
Died about 7 hours before they were promoted as well. I think his dad died a month later as well. Horrible all round.

Good team too. We even had 5 good midfielders for 3 positions then too (Eustace and Bryson in addition to the 3 who started)
And an injured Coutts

Southgate is a waist coat w***** , I'm not a big fan of Warne but dislike Souhgate as a manager so much I would rather have Warne as England Manager.
Why play Henderson he's slow lacks creativity and is nowhere near good enough to start never mind as an 8 in the same midfield as Rice ,almost like he's secretly Scottish sent as agent McSouthgate. We should play 4231 with Rice and Bellingham in a double pivot and play a high press.
Like this :
Pickford
Walker Stones (when fit) Tomori Shaw
Rice Bellingham
Saka Foden. Rash/Grealish
Kane
A high press… with Harry Kane up front…

Sometimes being dull/pragmatic is needed, but i think Southgate has had his chance, done a solid job and should pass the baton on to the next person.
Shame Potter went to Chelsea when he did, he was a shoe in for after the WC until he went there. That said he's hardly Mr Charisma.
Funny you mention charisma though… I bet Sven’s better thought of than Southgate despite having a better squad and not even making a semi (Ulrika aside)

Bradley was great with dealing with the Ariel aspect, but one on one or playing out, it's very much keogh territory
Keogh was great at playing out, not having that

I seem to remember getting rid when we had a real shortage of bodies. Might have made that up though.
Yeaaaaah… was the sale that made me think we were in serious s***, selling good utility players for peanuts to Millwall.

I’ve got numbers for Ripley and Heanor if either would help?

Cashin is a weird one for me. He was brilliant when he first came in and outstanding at times last season. But I just don’t see a top player in him. I don’t think his natural ability is that high nor his potential. It seems like when he is playing brilliantly, he is already reaching his max, almost overachieving compared to his natural ability.
I could be wrong but I just see a future solid Championship player at the most. No more.

Think Albentosa was poor scouting.
Came from an Eibar side that defended deep and was signed to play in a high-line.
His only good game for us was when Norwich had us under the cosh for 89 minutes and we fluked a 1-1.

That’s why I ask, it was at least 40 surely? Shambles, the kind of moment you’d take a double-footed red card

Am I exaggerating or did Blackpool nearly score an 80 pass move?
-
No… but that first half was Pearson bad. Won’t survive many more like that.

I'm sorry to say I did not realise that Trevor Francis had lost his wife in 2017.
Sounds like it f***** him up too. By all accounts it sounds like he was never the same after.

Quite like Channel 4’s coverage. A bit dafter, more light hearted, fun. Getting John Stones and James Maddison to play Carrot in a Box.
James Richardson doing a tiny Football Italia segment.
It’s only a game, after all.
